  • Mini V Bar

    Hi guys

I am trying to set up my first mini v bar but am struggling on the gain settings

I have assigned the right channel on my Tx so that the gyro switch works with the Vstabi software.

On the vstabi software it suggests that I should have gain of approx 60 (for a Trex 500). But to get there on my Tx (DX8) I need to set gain on 1% to get it to correspond to 60% on the V bar software. On my other helis I need a Tx setting of approx 60% for the gain

    What am I missing?

    Many thanks

    Thax,

That sounds fine, on my 500 with the vbar and dx8 i had gain on tx at set around 5 and vbar
    Gain was 65 ish.
It threw me at first but itts because its a dx8 and not dx6i, i srand corrected but futaba would show
Gain around 30 in tx.too someone with more intelligence might be able to explain better than me.

      In my futaba radio
I presume your using the express software? If so channel 5 is your gyro gain and in my futaba 8FG i'm using 60 to 70% gyro gain for similar values in the vbar.. 1% doesnt seem right somehow.

My question is did you calibrate the gain channel in the TX setup menu in vbar? You need adjust gyro gain and end points so it all registers with vbar as 0% centre and 100%.
      Are you using sbus?

I'll keep an eye on this thread as I'm changing over from DX 8 to Futaba and I have a couple of mini Vbars to reprogramme.

The gain is reading 65% in the vbar, his tx is saying 1%, you can forget what the tx says its what the vbar is doing that matters and it's doing 65% gain,

I know, what the vbar is doing is most important but just seems wrong theres such a huge discrepancy between the tx and vbar.. as though the gyro channel hasnt been calibrated correctly... but perhaps things like that are normal practise on spektrum radios lol.

In the active bank selection have you selected Aux-gyro gain....

It dont matter what the switch says, forget about it, ots what the vbar is saying that counts.
The gyro switch on the dx8 goes from -100% to +100% so ideally it should read about +15 but it dont matter
                That its reading +1
On all my vbars and using the dx8 my tx read around 5 -10 depending on what head speed i was running that day,

                  Guys

                  Thanks for all the input

Like I said it is just throwing me cos on every other gyro I have ever used, the gain is set to between 35-60 etc depending

Correction on my first post however, for me to get the VBar software to say 60% gain (in the screen) I need to set the transmitter gain to -5%

In every other gyro this would mean it is in rate mode not HH.

Really confused about this whole thing. Have gone through the set up again, on the transmitter calibration screen it reads the transmitter's gain % spot on (i.e. when I move it from -15% to 30% by flicking the switch the software recognises it) but as soon as I exit the setup page and go to them main mage where you set the gains, I need to turn the TX gain to -5% for it to correspond to 60% on the software

                  Very odd............

Hi Mark, if you're switching to futaba and run mini vbars I'd highly recommend the R6303SB sbus RX, makes wiring and setup much easier/neater. It's full range and full voltage too, more compact than traditional rx's.

I agree with ice...Go fly it,see what the tail does in funnels, tail slides and backwards flight, keep adjusting it till it wags then back it off a couple of percent.

On mine i am between 30 and 45.(dx9)

The discrepancy may be down to the gyro channel mode. On Futaba you can change between GY AVCS and NORM. I'll check later what mine's set to.

Thanks - but I'm using a spektrum tx. From my understanding a negative value in tx = rate mode

Vbar doesn't care about that. It's just a percentage of gain, and your choose Rate or HH from the VBar software. Try going to the opposite value, but as said above, it doesn't really matter as long as VBar reports the gain value you want.

Thanks for that - will spool it up and see what happens!

PS I meant in my previous post negative % in TX = rate mode (not HH as I said in my post)
