  • problem with 3A and flight mode

Hi everyone, I have noticed that when I switch flight modes i.e position mode normal mode and horizontal mode the swash plate moves to a position of back and to the left as I switch thru the modes, normal mode stays true to level but the other two modes Pos and HOR behave as mentioned. I have set up HC 3A many times, the heli is a Raptor Titan 50 ICM and the unit is mounted on the rear on a piece of Trex tail boom bolted across the tail boom supports and is very strong and stable. I made up a wooden block that is dead square both horizontal and vertical to the bench and applied the HC unit to it's bracket using this so that there is no issue with HCs orientation. So this is the question does this unit need recalibrating I know just about all there is to know about setting them up or have I missed something. I look forward to your thoughts. Thanks in anticipation Nigel.

Are you sure your trims aren't changing as you switch modes ? Other than that try pressing the button on the top after it's initialised to set all the internal presets to zero (just hold down until it starts to flash and leave till it returns to a solid red/green or yellow) If this fails I sugest a factory reset and set it up again.

Thanks Martyn I will try that, I find setting the tail up a bit tricky with a powerful OS 50SX HYPER behind it. I have set the tail by adjusting the gap between the slider and the tail box to 4.5mm and have also set the REVO MIX at 4 so that the pitch on the tail rotor increases with the collective. the gain is set to 18 so that should be enough. One thing puzzles me, there is not a lot of left (tail) throw but plenty of right. when releasing the tail stick the tail rotors settle back at 15 degrees as setup with 4.5mm from tail box as raptor technique advise. Any thoughts. Once again thanks for replying. Nigel.

You don't need as much left as right as the heli will always be trying to turn to the left anyway because of the opposite force from the rotor blades, so just releasing some of the right ward force of the tail rotor will cause the heli to turn left. I think I've got that the right way round !
