I used to ground my booms back to the frame and engine mount. As you have the boom block, I think it should be safe to ground this to the mount. I would also ensure that the boom and your metal boom block have good contact, maybe by rubbing some paint away from the boom where it contacts the block.

I would also check you have good contacts on all the leads. Just feel that a 360 piro on a circuit flight sounds more than just a simple thing. Check that the lead connecting the control box to the tail sensor have good contacts. The pins in the socket of the sensor and control box can sometimes get pushed in inadvertently, so ensure this has not happened.

      OK. Heli mechanically rebuilt.

Pre flight checks OK. All sensors working, all looks happy.

Spool up (heli is smooth, no noticable vibration) and just at point of take off the tail spins round - as in no gyro. . Stop, check heli, 3G green light is on but sensors sort of locked up - no response from tail, elevator or aileron sensors at all when heli is moved. Disconnect battery, reconnect 3G boots up OK sensors working - spool up, same again

Plugs are all nicely located. Any ideas?

Thanks Lee and everyone else BUT - How can I deal with a static problem if thats what it is?

Its a metal tail box, metal boom, metal boom support, carbon frames - all good conductors (?) What do I do/try?

First thing I would do is spray the belt with a silicon lube. This will eliminate static for a while so you can test.

                Hope you get this sorted..

Really, to me it sounds that it maybe a faulty control box? I really cannot think of why it does this when the heli is spun up to speed.

Have you checked all the cables to the control box and receiver, and tried re setting the whole control box, resetting everything including rebinding the receiver?

Think this maybe all worth a try, as cannot think of why you are having these problems.

OK. Working all day today so not got on it. However, tomorrow:-

Pull all plugs off, refit them all.
                  Rebind Rx
                  Rest 3G from scratch
Spray some silicon on the belt
                  Test fly
Remove from heli and throw in rubbish bin
Join the forum anti 3G brigade
                  Buy a Beast X

There again it might just work - but I doubt it

Dave.. I will keep my fingers crossed for you, and trust it will work.

If you have to buy another fbl unit though.. I would agree to go with a Beast...
