I'm glad you did post it and yes pretty much any FBL unit can be tweaked to get the best out of it.

My experience with 3G , beastx, total G, is that they have all needed tweaking whereas the vbar pretty much flies in most cases out the box. Set your gains and agility and go enjoy it and it's there where many have embraced it because they don't like tweeking or simply don't know how to. ( I fall into that category lol) I know what I like and what I don't like but that's as far as I go

That is very interesting to hear, I agree some FBL units take more setting up but I would not put beast x in that category it is seen as the easiest to set up :P Ask anyone who has seen me do it, I can set up a beast x from scratch and fly it as if I had used it loads before in less than 5 mins! Thats why I love it! But it also has the best feel of any other fbl I have tried

I loved the cyclic feel of beast x but I could never get the tail consistent and it would often blow out under pressure. At that time my knowledge was limited and instead of wasting more time on it I ditched in favour of the vbar and for me it just works. If like waveydavey and you, I had stuck with it I would have prolly learnt how to make it right for me

I've owned, not just tried - Align 3g, Align 3gx, Vbar Black sensor, blue sensor, silver sensor, Thunder Tiger GT5, Skookum 720, skookum 540, MSH Brain, Spartan Vortex, BeastX.

Is that enough so I can have an opinion, or is your horse still a bit too high????

I see Bens point, almost any of the FBL units on the market will outfly most pilots and the BeastX certainly doesn't slow down someone like Dunkan Bossion!

However, V-Bar sets the standard in FBL by which all others are measured as it will perform well straight out of the box, especially on a Logo and can be as vivid or robotic as the pilot wants with almost endless tuning combinations.

I am having a fiddle with the 3GX at the moment and finding it surprisingly good, as I'm sure I would find BeastX etc.

              Cheers

Then you are the perfect person for me to ask my questions You see the thing is I do not have the money to buy all the different fbl units and therefore can only speak from my own experience with using other peoples, on my own models I have always flown Beastx. My question is because this is why I said what I said before. What is it about the V Bar that you think is better? And what is it you didn't like about the beast x and others you tried ?

As have been previously mentioned V-bar works well out of the box without any fiddling. I too can set up a vbar very quickly, probably as quick as you can with a beastx, and know it will fly with the settings I put in.

Some of the other units I've tried have a disconnected feeling like they are flying you not the other way round. Have poor straight line performance with pitching up tendencies, have poor tails with different stops in either direction, suffer from poor vibe tolerance, lack of punch around center stick, over controlling inputs, dead feeling around center on cyclics. The list goes on. Now of course all these can be sorted and the model can be made to fly well, but only if you know what a p-gain, i-gain, debounce, acceleration, etc, etc is and can be arsed to spend the countless hours trying different options. I couldn't get rid of a horrible elevator bounce, dreadful piro (even after a few trim flights), tail blowing out and nearly kissing the earth due to over control on the elevator. I changed nothing else but put a vbar on the same heli and it was fantastic to fly, now one of my favourites. I set my vbars at 90 feel, 90 agility, the recommended gain for the size of heli and 20 pitch pump and away I go. If I can then be bothered I'll adjust the agility if I want it a bit faster and up the tail gain if it has a slow wag or doesn't hold. No messing around trying to decipher tech code or match the blackpool illuminations to a piece of paper I forgot to bring.

I started with vbars and have tried most other things looking for a cheaper or better alternative and I continually come back to vbars. I have many flying buddies who have the cheaper alternatives and are very happy with them, mainly because they haven't touched a vbar. Now one of them has sold every beastx he had to replace with vbars. I'm not saying they are the best, I'm saying they are the best for me. If I look I will be able to find many people who have changed all the vbars for something else and are now really happy.

I think it's great we have all these alternatives as it can only drive the hobby further and the competition helps in reducing the price of Vbars for me in the future...!
