Hello Panos, I am, I am, started on the tail now as the frame etc is now pretty complete (need main gears installed, that's all). Its the electrics that are getting me worried, but I know a man... (Mattie?).
Well I went to test fly today after work and connected the pack and went thru a pre flight. The swash was compensating as it should but the tail gyro was not ! It worked on the bench ? The tail servo is fine and commands work but on moving the heli the gyro is not responding ??
Running dx8 and have set the tail percentages at 60 65 and 70 but none work it's prolly something very simple lol

Flew a couple of packs on the 3gx after work today. Felt totally disconnected from it, it popped into the hover no problem at all. The tail had an intermittent drift. One minute it held solid then If I did a piro it would stop nicely then start to creep round.
It did flip nicely but the cyclic felt notchy and robotic and tbh I had to fight with it throughout the whole 2 flights.
I honestly didn't expect any different from the first flights but I don't have the time or patience to tweak it out and besides .......Xygax has fixed my crash damaged vbar woohoo so guess what's happening on Monday lol

VBControl, but not the gay white version as i'm simply not gay enough to pull it off!
Just fitted a 3GX to a newly built 450L. I'm spending some time getting my head around the advanced parameters as I want to get the best out of it. Box settings aren't ideal (a bit slow and mushy for me but a good starting point) and the laptop is definitely required to get the best out of this unit (again, for me). Just for comparison I also fitted a mini V-Bar for half dozen flights (which behaved as expected).
The first few flights I've had with the 3GX are encouraging. I upped the aileron and elevator rates to 80% giving a feel on the cyclics very close to the previously fitted v-bar. Cyclics felt much more direct and the heli perfectly responsive and predictable. The tail, however, is taking some work but it's getting there (using laptop to adjust parameters). I'll come back with my thoughts and settings once I'm happy.
I'm going to get alot of stick for this but I want to know why everyone always compares things to a V Bar? As if its the best you can get, over the last year I have been lucky enough to have a play with a few people machines and setups and for me the V bar has always flown fake and generally soft (not snappy feeling in aggressive 3D) Although it can be made to look aggressive it does not have that direct feel that I was after. The other big problem that some of you may have noticed is that most of the V bars I have watched have a really annoying tail bounce on hard stops, its just like alittle twitch. Of cause for most people out there its not a problem, if you are just hovering and doing some basic 3D then really any gyro will work for you, I set up an old 3G unit while in corfu the other week and it flew quite nice.
Anyway I only made this post because I always sit here reading these posts wondering why everyone raves about it so much? This may have been the wrong place to post this because I am far from trying to suggest the 3GX is the best unit because it plainly is not! Far from it although I have to say you can get one flying fairly well which I can vouch for because I have done it before but granted I still sold it in the end and put a Beast X on it! :P
In my opinion almost all FBL units can be made to fly very well most of it is in the setup of your heli and setup of the unit, so why spend huge amounts on a V Bar when a Beastx or now also by the looks of things the Spartan are as good if not better!
