I am setting up heli with 3gx,all done but i have way to much travel on elevator! 8 degrees set for aileron and elevator with 100% travel, but elevator still has way to much travel and binding, any ideas anyone, thanks
This is normal outside of DIR mode, but you can limit it with the aileron and elevator limit sldiers within the 3GX PC software. These sliders act like a sort of cyclic/swash plate limit to avoid binding. What I found and this is the same with all FBL units, a very small amount of binding at the very extremes is ok, as you will never actually reach this point in flight. But too much needs to have the travel sliders reduced.

Great thanks ian, will try that,i tried reducing travel adjust down from 100% but it messed the whole cyclic up so put it back at 100%
Hey Buddy.
You're welcome.
Yes, if you tried changing the transmitters ATV values, then yes this would have messed the rest up. Once the transmitter ATV's are set, any other travel changes must be made from within the PC software. This was one of the reasons many didn't like the Align 3GX, as it meant carrying a laptop with you when at the field. But once setup it actually works pretty well.

Also Ian would you know why the tail gyro is creeping one way on its own, thanks
This while on the bench? This can happen, while the tail gyro is looking for movement but not seeing any while the model is on the ground, the tail can creep. From memory I did mess about with adding in a very small 1 ~ 2% of sub trim on the tail channel on the odd occasion with the 3GX, my view was that I wondered if some transmitter calibration issues were not helping. While I didn't suffer any detrimental flying effects, I wouldn't advise this for you just yet.
Before you go to fly after placing the model down o nthe ground ready for take off, flick into rate mode to straighten the tail blades, then back in heading hold mode and spool up.

Hi Ian,just adjusted elevator travel down in software and hasnt made any difference,i presume you adjust value then press write box

If you've got the setup right when going through dir you shouldn't get any binding with v5 & on the bench should have 9/10 degrees cyclic so could be your mechanical setup...?
I'll have to refresh my memory of the pc software a little later to remember what sliders you need to adjust.
I will expect some binding outside of DIR mode, as the 8 degrees set isn't the maximum available in flight mode, just the point setting which the 3GX knows to be a given amount of cyclic deflection.
Back later.

In dir mode there is correct amount of travel and no binding,in flight mode is when its got masses of travel and binding, only on elevator, aileron fine
