3GX V5 help needed

Hi guys, I am new to this flybarless thing but am trying to help out a club mate who is having problems with Trex 550 and his 3GX with V5 software and Spektrum DX9. We have read all the forums and etc but that has not been of any use as the main issue is the satellites and 3GX lights are not coming on when powered up, so the set up sequence cannot commence. We first tried powering it from a the Talon 90 esc in the kit and also via a separate 6V receiver battery, in case the esc was faulty but have the same problem. So the question is does the 3GX work with both Spektrum DSM2 and DSMX satellites and what else could we try?

It does work with both DSM2/DSMX, they can't be mixed IIRC.

It will not power up unless the servos are connected.

If i remember correctly theres no lights until you bind it to the tranmitter then it lights up i made
the same mistake

Correct, you need to put in the bind plug and bind the 3GX, once it binds it will come to life.

Hey Buddy.

As above, the 3GX needs to be bound to receive a signal which then allows it to power up.

As you are using a DSMX capable set, follow the binding procedures but power up with the bind plug in and the rubber set button on the 3GX pressed, this tells the 3GX to sue DSMX mode. Then pull out the binding plug, this sets all channel user set failsafe positions rather than last position hold and go through the binding process with your transmitter.
