I had a complete Outrage Fusion fbl head and main shaft on my raptor 50(now its on my v50c). If the 550 uses 10mm main shaft it should work too.Compass 7HV, Beastx
T-rex 600 EFL Pro, BeastX.
ElyQ 50 Comp XE, BeastX.
T-rex 450 Pro DFC, MSH Brain.
Blade 130X stock.

Well I made this eve my mission to test this unit out,i tossed a coin and the 6HV came out as the donor model.
I saved the 5.2 file from that Mini V Bar,swapped the unit for the Fubar, loaded the file into it,checked bind and failsafes etc.
And bombed down to a friends field to test it initially I hasten to add, just did the one flight,it was bang on.
It was a hurried quick test but i didnt see anything that gives me an indication that this isnt going to be a very capable unit, the model felt the same as always.
Looking forward to further flying with it at the weekend.
Ran a log check when I got back,no Rx,power or vibration concerns.Last edited by ChrisB; 10-06-2013, 09:52 PM.

Turnigy FBL controller
I now need a heli to put the mini Fu Bar on, will a trex 600 FBL head fit on the raptor as a cheaper alternative to the X50 head, which is around £109?

True but I'm sure there's some who couldn't fly without a heading hold gyro on the tail. Don't really see a problem if someone can't fly a flybarred heli if they never plan to buy one.Originally posted by GIXERMAN View Posttbh there proberly a few on here, who couldn't fly a flybarred models, because they jumped straight on the flybarless route.

Ok this get more tempting by the minute.
I have 500 which would be good starting point for my first flybar less Heli
So which is best fubar or turnigy also which head with out spending mega money.
I was thinking may be tarrot head?

If the FuBar is indeed a Vbar Clone then it will be the better unit compared to the Turnigy, From my experience Tarot quality has been pretty decent or maybe see if you can get an align head off someone upgrading to DFC. Regular blades will be fine though dedicated FBL blades can help the FBL controller out a bit though far from essential.Originally posted by Streetluge Chris View PostOk this get more tempting by the minute.

The 3D-H is a BeastX version 1 clone, the Fu-Bar is a VBar clone. So to use the Fu-Bar you must download the actual VBar software and you'll need to run it on your PC to setup the FuBar. The 3D-H does not require a PC to do the setup. Presumably though the FuBar should be more tuneable and ultimately better but what's better is also a matter of personal preference.Originally posted by Streetluge Chris View PostOk this get more tempting by the minute.

I have a BeastX ver 2 on my 500 and I am quite happy with it.
On the head, probably either the 3G head or the RJX head.
Regarding blades, yes it does matter but lots of blades will work. When I first converted mine I was flying with Align 425Fs and they worked quite well. I also tried the 430mm Pro3Ds and they are slightly heavier and were a wee bit more stable, then I got a pair of Mavrikk G5s and those have stayed on the heli ever since. I would imagine the Align 2Gs should be pretty good as well.
What servos are on it now? You do need fairly fast servos for FBL but the Align DS510s are fine.Kasama, Minicopter, Henseleit, JR, Shape, Beam

Turnigy FBL controller
If its your first FBL system I think the 3D-H will be a good choice, they are easy to set up without having to use a computer.
I use Align 3G's on my 500 as I couldn't get on with the standard FB blades.

The Fubar should be the far better unit,3DH is Beast v1
Fubar is running the Pro version of the latest Mikado firmware, there is simply no comparison.
V bar (sorry i mean Fu Bar) will be fine with standard blades, optimisers will dial it in,used normal blades extensively over the last 4 years with it on everything from a 450 to a 90.Last edited by ChrisB; 11-06-2013, 12:53 PM.

Turnigy FBL controller
Chris, in what way is it better?
I have never flown v bar so don't know how it can be so much better than the beastx. I have a fu bar on order so i guess ill find out.
Doubt if my flying will ever push any of them to the limit though! Lol

Franky's Outrage head looks really nice and flys very well but if you want a cheaper alternative you could try Eli-q grips (£20 from FL) on the standard hub with a couple of shims, you'll need to find a swash anti-rotation assembly (I used a Mikado one I had) and some longer rods but other than that you should be good to go.Originally posted by Dan22 View PostI agree, but it's now got to the stage where most new models are FBL, so people that are new to the hobby won't know the difference.
When i go flying i usually take my 550 DFC and my flybarred Raptor E550. I always fly the Trex first then get the Raptor out, it's really well set up but i can certainly feel the difference.
My first FBL model was a Trex 500 which i didn't like compared with the FB Raptors, it wasn't until recently i got a 550 DFC and put the Beastx on i realised how good FBL is! Yes it doesn't do banked turns quite like a FB model but the difference there is minimal. So i have bought a FuBar for the Raptor, just need a FBL head now but RJX are out of stock at Hobbyking.
Does anybody know of an alternative FBL head for the Raptor?
Thanks,
Dan.
In suggesting this I presume the 550 hub is the same basic dimensions as the alloy one fitted to the titan SE that I converted, flys awesome too.
Cheers

Re: Turnigy FBL controller
Test hovered the 450 with two lipos at the backgarden. Very stable, put the agility down to "scale mode". So smooth, check log and I have plenty of high to extreme vibration. I found out that esc which has been mounted with adhesive tape was loose even velcroed. I cant wait to fly it in an open space. Fubarred 450.

I have a spare pair of Ely.Q grips from a Vision Ultimate - free for the price of postage.Originally posted by maddog7 View PostFranky's Outrage head looks really nice and flys very well but if you want a cheaper alternative you could try Eli-q grips (£20 from FL) on the standard hub with a couple of shims, you'll need to find a swash anti-rotation assembly (I used a Mikado one I had) and some longer rods but other than that you should be good to go.

A couple things if it helps; I know the Trex 550 flybarred head will fit on a Raptor 50 because someone at my club did just that. I'm also pretty sure the Ely.Q entire head will fit a Raptor and on the Vision Ultimate when you remove the flybar assembly on top you have a pretty clean FBL head and the flapping guides can serve as a swash driver (that's what I did on my Vision Ultimate). In fact, I am very tempted to put my Vision Ultimate back together just as a test vehicle for a Fu-Bar

Not flown the latest Beast firmware but I did own 2 Beasts with V1 and v2 and I rated them highly,I hear the newer firmware is even better, seen plenty inflight and the heli and the pilots both seem happy enough.
The original Beast firmware was something like the v bar was on V4 but the V Bars tail was in a league of its own.
V5 V bar is a whole new level so although I can't comment on the latest Beast firmware against V bar V5 I think anyone you ask would say the V1 beast firmware as the 3DH has installed on it just isn't a patch on the V5 V Bar.
Will be keen to hear your comparisons and your thoughts on the Fu.
