Just so I know how this works; On the Fu-Bar, is it just the programming software you have to download from Mikado to do the setup or do you need to flash the firmware that runs in the unit as well?

The pro firmware is loaded on the unit, all you need is to aquire the pc software for the setup.
The latest version of it from Mikado wont work with it as when the unit connects to it the software logs in to Mikado and it rejects the unit,if you disable internet access it comes up with your usual cannot connect to internet message.
So the Fu Bar needs the 5.3.4 pc software to program it,this is available in a roundabout way from Hobbyking website, its also on a few filesharing sites also now and spreading rapidly.
Its a 35mb exe file so easily emailed around also or popped on a cd,usb stick etc.

See I made that mistake. I downloaded 5.4.3b (updating my PC installation from 5.3.1), and registered both my mini Vbars using the new method before I tried to set up my fu bar.
Even with my original registered Vbars, it wants to go to the website before you can do anything in the software. What about when you're at the field, and there is no internet connection? Because disabling my LAN connection stopped me being able to make any changes to my Vbar, it just exits the program.
Fortunately, my latest Vbar (bought days before the fu bar came out) came with 5.3.4 (no b on the end) on CD so there's currently no problem. But what about when 5.4 comes out? Am I going to be unable to use the proper software with my proper Vbars on my laptop while at the field if there's no 3G to tether to?Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Indeed. Even if I were to bring my laptop to the field there would be no wifi to get online with, this is completely hypothetical in my case since I don't have a VBar.Originally posted by bigpops View PostAm I going to be unable to use the proper software with my proper Vbars on my laptop while at the field if there's no 3G to tether to?Kasama, Minicopter, Henseleit, JR, Shape, Beam

Can you not edit the hosts file in windows/system32/drivers/etc to a local host 127.0.0.1 webaddress.com or something like that to stop the software looking towards the web?Originally posted by bigpops View PostSee I made that mistake. I've just installed a FuBar in my 250 SE. It fits perfectly in the (below) tray in the frame with the sat on top.
You only need one satellite. Easier to install than the Brain or Beast X on my other 2 250's.
