If mine is as expected,i plan to order another for myself as a backup although the mini v from said heli will be spare and a fellow flier wants to make his first foray into fbl also and has read up on them and is awaiting seeing mine so that might be an order for two more units.

I finished the 3D-H setup on my Trex 500 last night. It's pretty straight forward once you get the wires the right way up and plug in the sat!!! (Thanks Waveydavey for your help)
Went to the field today to try it out. Popped it into the hover, it just sat there no dramas even though it was 12mph winds and gusting! So gave it a whizz up and down the field, no pitching etc still all ok. Into idle up 1 & 2, did some flips rolls and inverted, no tail kicks, it just seem to hold in! Doesn't feel any different from the beastx that was on before.
Well impressed with this unit so far!

I am now contemplating as i dont usually fly the 500 so much,whether to fit the Fu to my awesome 550DFC or even more awesome and beloved 6HV,these both have mini Vs on so an easy swap over,both my 700s have fullsize Vs so dont want to have the extra wiring hassle.

I feel a bigger model than the 500 would show the unit off better to me,,,,,cant decide yet.

I feel the 6HV flies incredible so maybe thats the best one for me to compare.

It reminds me of when Vauxhall/Opal tried to market their "Nova" small hatchback car in Spain before somebody noticed that "no va" translates as "doesn't go" ..

None of my helis will be FUBAR'ed until I've crashed them!

I'm sure they know what it means and it's part marketing, part just having a sense of humour. I thought of that as a joke some time ago without realising it actually existed.

I do wonder where this will all lead though with these various cloned units. If the circuits are identical then surely it's a patent infringement. It does show that quite a lot of the cost of the genuine item is profit / recouping R&D etc. which I certainly don't begrudge them about but the knowledge that hardware can be made and sold so much cheaper may have a trickle-down effect on the pricing of the others, we shall see.

I think they know exactly what it means and it was chosen for that reason. It's easy to remember and great for making jokes.

Agreed,they know exactly what it means,the colouring of the logo is identical,the box it comes in is also identical.

The joke is very much on someone and its not Hobbyking.

Why has the mini v dropped 60 quid in price,it's not low enough.

Very keen to see what this does to the well over 100 quid fbl units sales if these substantially cheaper units prove effective,it could wipe them out.

Because you've all got lazy Am I correct in saying that FBL takes away the finer corrections to fly?? If so than IMO flying flybarred makes you a better pilot as in someone who's always flown FBL wont have that instinctive feel to make teeny correction to keep it solid. So say a low inverted slow pirouette will take more skill flybarred than FBL. If i'm wrong then ok.

Im almost finished setting up the fubar on the 450. Got some chores to do so might finish and test flight it tomorrow. Made a mistake when setting it up on the vbar software. I forgot that Im using analog servos on the 450 (65mg) and as I was calibrating endpoints and center of the sticks, magic smoke came out of the servos. All my cyclics are toast as default servo on vbar software is digital. Luckily I have 4 more spare servos that I found ransacking the spares box. I forgot how much PITA to change cyclic servos on a 450 se v2.

I agree, but it's now got to the stage where most new models are FBL, so people that are new to the hobby won't know the difference.
When i go flying i usually take my 550 DFC and my flybarred Raptor E550. I always fly the Trex first then get the Raptor out, it's really well set up but i can certainly feel the difference.
My first FBL model was a Trex 500 which i didn't like compared with the FB Raptors, it wasn't until recently i got a 550 DFC and put the Beastx on i realised how good FBL is! Yes it doesn't do banked turns quite like a FB model but the difference there is minimal. So i have bought a FuBar for the Raptor, just need a FBL head now but RJX are out of stock at Hobbyking.
Does anybody know of an alternative FBL head for the Raptor?
