The reason I have opted for SS bearings was that on the advice of my local bearing supplier, Carbon Steel bearings are only suitable for nitro content up to 5%, now as he couldnt supply these and therefore lost a sale, i assume he was being honest with me. FYI the SS bearings from RCbearings.com are phenolic caged as well. As for the outer bearing, personally I leave both shields on and use them as a sealed bearing, I have been running my OS50 like that for ages on Optifuel 20% with no issues, I usually change both bearings at the same time as for the little cost involved it doesnt seem worth not doing so.

I voted for ceramic because that is what I put in this time, but the next ones will be ss. I am really worried that they break inside the engine.
Good luck chap! ceramic will not like fuel or handle
the load thay will be under resulting in a prety fu#k'd motor
cool on driven parts (some) tail stuff.
