  • OS 50 Hyper Brearings

Guys looking for some advice please.

Ive had my 50 hyper in the rappy for sometime now and have always used contest 10.
Noticed recently that when the heli is just at idle there is a strange tinny noise which goes when on power and flying?
Started to use Magnum 30 at the weekend but it did not seem to like that very much as noise was worse and it smoked, alot!
At one point we could not see it. LOL
    Do the bearings need changing??

a rattle on idle is normally a sign the engine bearings are on their way.

the only way to tell for sure is to drop the motor out and check it out.

did you retune it for the high nitro fuel?

where do you fly? I get up to middle wallop way pretty regularly during the week.

      Hi Mate,

I actually live in Andover but just like the name WALLOP!

I fly at a mates farm access 24/7 near monxton.

I did retune the lump but seemed to make no difference. About 1&half turns out.

If I do change the bearings where or who do I get them from??

      Cheers.

The 50 SX-H are the ones you need as they are the same as the 50 Hyper bearings.

damn robgt, i paid less than that for 2x front AND rear bearings from hendersons on ringwood. It came to about 7.50 for the 4.

            go to www.yell.com

stick your post code in and do a search for "bearing stockists". The rear bearing wont be a phonelic (sp?) cage but these places dont sell rubbish. I have not had a metal cage break up.

Yeah Ade, I know - but the other place I use doesn't have a website to order from

BSL Brammer in Wolverhampton is a great place to go, and great bearings at great prices - but if you want swift online ordering (as I usually do) then I just go to modelfixings.co.uk.

Unless someone has a better onlien place to buy them cheaper?

              Cheers,

Did you see a power/performance increase from that too?
I haven't done mine yet, but it's coming out this evening so I might well do it then...

not really any power increase just sounds smoother and has stopped knackering bearings... i think probably because it's more balanced and the back one gets alot more oil now
                    cheers Lee

Just ordered frt and rr bearings for my OS from smb bearings. Only problem is I had to order 4 pairs..
If they fit and are the right ones does anyone want a set?? Can confirm costs once the order is complete.

I have ordered the R6ZZ and 6902 bearings.
Note to self, Must Fly more

Well recieved both bearings today from Modelfixings. So easy to order, and pay via paypal. Ordered late Tues nite, arrive Thurs. Cool service.

The bearings were £17.60 inc postage.

Fitted them in earlier, no probs.

On inspection the originals do not sound good. Engine has done a few gallons now so small price to pay i guess.

                          Rob.

                              (Different Rob...)

I took my engine out last night as I thought I'd heard it sounding a little off later on Sunday. Anyway, it was fine, but I managed to wedge the friggin carb back in to the point that it wouldn't seat properly, and it wouldn't come out (easily) either.

I spent the next half hour or so carefully yanking the crap out o.... hang on, I mean carefully easing it back out of the engine. Finally got the sucker out but had swarfe to clean up now - joy!
Dropped the engine out again, cleaned it all up thoroughly, and the carb, then fitted it all together again and stuffed it back together.
Not an enjoyable night all told - especially when you realise the whole exercise was pointless and I must have been hearing things on Sunday

Still, it was fiddling with heli's and thats what I like
                              LOL
                              Cheers,
