  • align 700 / align 91H engine question

    Hi,

My align 91H needs a new rear bearing so I have striped it down ready.
How do I get the clutch nut off without buying a crank locking tool??

    Many thanks

Remove carb use a Toothbrush. But I strongly recommend you buy tool. This will not be the only time.

I do something similar but I use a large insulated screwdriver and with the back plate off I stick it up the centre of the crank rod with a covering of cloth on the screwdriver tip. I then unscrew the nut bringing the con rod up against the side of the scredriver.

              Cheers.
Any advise on where to buy parts at the best price for the engine?

                  Great little thread, thanks.
My engine looks a lot cleaner than the one you show in that thread.
Sounds a little rattly, more so than a few weeks ago so I am guessing rear bearing.
I am used to 21 sized car engines and the 91 has a fraction of the compression, is this normal??

no should have loads, id guess your piston ring is stuck in the groove. pry it out gently n give it a good clean as per my thread

If the engine is dry then it will feel like theres not much, most car engines are ABC so don't normally have a ring. If the engine is wet still with fuel then maybe as Kev has said above

Yeah my old car engines were ring less.
Got ring off and will clean it all out well. Didn't realise the ring was pressurised from behind like that, off to have a close look and more cleaning.
Got the oven part to go, bring on the stink lol

In time is it worth relining and replacing the piston etc or buy a new engine?

Only if they both show signs of wear and you feel like it's losing a bit of power. The other tell tale that it's starting to wear are scuff marks on the piston on the skirt. This shows increased clearance in the liner
