According to Jamie Renwick at Fastlads there is 6 times more stuff to learn with FPV than our regular pod n boom helicopters.

After having a ten minute explanation from him on the subject I have to agree.

Liam you tart! Black arms, what was wrong with the red and white you got from me....? lol

OSD is the TBS ezosd. It's very good as it's one of the few with a current sensor so giving you the mah used. Trouble is there is no barometric sensor so the height reading can vary from slightly out to ridiculous. It's usually a meter or two wrong but even that is not great. Other times it's said I'm 9 meters up when I've just landed. lol It's very easy to setup as it's immersion gear so just plugs in to the fat shark stuff and there's no soldering required. The current sensor has xt60 connectors which is what I use on the smaller batteries anyway.

The mini is good but there is no mah used. It uses the naza's sensors and explains why it's cheaper than the others. I fancy the IOSD MKii simply because it has the ability to switch between video sources although that will bring up more problems due to the voltage of my camera.

I'd say OSD is really useful to have, you can then also answer the old question of 'how fast does it go, how far can it go, how high can it go'. lol

Tim im actually finding setting these up far easier and quicker than a model helicopter. However Jamies definately right. When you start fitting OSDs and various other add-ons then the wiring can start to get pretty complicated. Just about to wire up the new VTX and OSD for my 2nd Disco :-)
Im using an iOSD in this one but also the current sensor and OSD from the core.

I use the IOSD MKii on my disco and I find it better that the ezosd that died 3 weeks from new!!! The horizon bar is great on the Iosd ii if you fly on gimbal, something I found difficult with the ezosd due to not been aware of the quads angles.

Yes the mah reading is nice and I hope DJI will add it soon with a new firmware, but now using the timer on my Taranis 8 minutes count down and leaves me with 25% on my pack.

                    I love FPV

                          Cheers chaps, helpful stuff..
Made2fade, are you using two OSD systems then, an iOSD plus something else to give mAH used?
"the current sensor and OSD from the core." sorry, I didn't follow that..
That's what I'd like - the GPS & barometric altitude etc read back from the NAZA, but mAH from something else?
                          Cheers for any help

                                Very good videos.

Got to wonder what would happen if you lose it and it happens to collide with a light aircraft at some point on the way home. I guess that's why it must be kept in sight if I recall the rules correctly.

                                Interesting stuff this fpv
