  • ##Sold## Some Old Stuff

I used to be a heavy user of this forum many years ago, and have a little look every now and then these days, but have not flown anything now since about 2014 ish when I packed up due to extremely heavy work commitments at the time, which have now passed, but I just never got back into it, and now spend all of my spare time doing other stuff.

When I stopped flying, I also started working from home, so I converted what was my toy workshop into an office, and now sit there all day every working day looking at 2 heli airframes hanging up on the wall and some other bits.

These are available to anyone who wants and would like to collect from the centre of East Anglia. I have no idea of their worth (if anything) and they are all obsolete for spares, but I know there are some folk out there who like these things.

I can get some photos at the weekend, but the details here are exactly as I remember them, so photos won't really add very much to the description, but I get the point, if you want them, I can sort it.

I have basically 3 things, and all of this is from memory as I sit here, and I haven't checked any of it out yet in the flesh:
    • A JR DSX9 2.4 GHz transmitter in an aluminium carry case. I took the battery out of it when I stopped flying so it hasn't leaked or split or done anything like that inside as far as I know, but it is still probably inside the case, so will need to check that out.
    • A JR Vibe 50 full kit with flybar, YS 56 engine, Hatori pipe, Spectrum DS760 (is that right?) gyro, all JR servos (8900 on tail, and what at the time were very fast and very expensive, probably crap nowadays), Radix blades, some fancy LiOn battery I think and an adjustable regulator set to 5v for the servos that wouldn't run at 6v and Spektrum receiver etc. I bought this heli brand new, built it to fly and never once ditched it for several years of flying. I was a FAI flyer, not 3D and the paddles are set to heavy, and I took my B test many years ago with it, what a proud day. It also has a Canomod custom canopy and is set up for 140 deg swash, as was the thing with JR back then. I may have left the battery inside this since it has been hanging up, so may need to check that out for condition that it hasn't secretly exploded or anything without letting me know.
    • I also have a full and complete spare airframe of the same heli, so basically, you've got one crash with all spares.
I also used to fly several 90 size Excell helis (amongst others) at the time (all since sold), so the Vibe 50 only got flown once a month or so, but was always the smoothest, straightest flying helicopter that I had ever used.

Enthusiasts will know that the engine may or may not be recoverable after all these years, and I can't remember if I put any oil in it when I stopped flying, so it will be random.

All of it has been stored in a heated/cooled dry environment ever since. If anyone is interested, please get in touch with me on 07498987156 and we can discuss further. If it goes to voicemail, please leave a message and number so I can get back to you. But phone is the best way to contact me please.

Just gauging interest here at the moment.

    Thanks.

Hi Steve! 'Long time :-o The Vibe 50 was a very good heli. In about (I think) 2015 ish, I got an E8 Leggero with the three blade head, it was such a nice build and it flies very precise. That was my first (and only) JR.

I'd say chances are the engine will just need bearings. I once bought a 2nd hand heli with an OS70 that had set in storage for a few years till the fuel residue had gelled or something and it would not even turn - and after warming it up a bit till it would turn freely, it started up and didn't need anything! I ran it for over a year before it even needed bearings. So ya never know.

'Sounds like it's probably a Spartan gyro. They were my fav, tied with the Futaba GY601 / 611.

If it's JR 8717 servos on there, they are actually still very good, I have those on a TDR. And the 8900 on the tail is a very good servo. So it could probably be converted to FBL quite easily if someone wanted to.
