If we increase the posts then we run the risk pulling existing can sell members into a non selling group.

What I'd prefer to and have activated it today but will have to watch and re-do the icon is the reputation element.

This will bring in a third element also.

PM's are an area I can't control so I would suggest that if you have members pestering offering stuff to sell via PM's and they are under the set criteria then let me or mod's know to have a word in thier shell. We will require you to forward the PM to us before we can action on it.

I think this is a good idea in pryncipal.

You will probably find that more rubbish is posted on the forum by people trying to get up to 50 posts. I wouldnt make it any more than 50 posts as many decent members may not post very often (see pjtyros above)
If somebody is spamming the forum alot then I suggest that you punish them by making them wait an extra month, especially if they have joined.. posted nothing for 25 days and then spam there way to 50 posts in the last few days.

Some sort of reputation system would be a good idea if you can impliment it.

      EDIT -

Another rule that might be worth considering is forcing everybody who is selling to take a picture of the item to prove that they do own it.
One forum I visit also has a rule that a tin of baked beans must also be in the picture.. to stop people nicking images from google.

Nothing also to stop you placing it within the wanted section of the auctions also.

I understand why this has been done but it does not help people who like me have dipped their toes into this hobby and bought a CX2, Phoenix and an McX all following recommendations on the forum. I have now come to my senses and whilst trying to justify the cost of a bigger heli realise that it is just not going to happen for me due to the high costs involved in even a small electric heli. I would now like to sell my CX2, McX and Phoenix and want to offer them first to the good people on this forum who have helped me in the last few months. I have pm'd sonofdelboy who I believe is on the lookout for Phoenix but I guess its ebay for the rest.

                Just my 2 penneth.

Stick the items into the Auctions...

As far as I am aware, this restriction is only for posting items into a forum thread in the for sale section?

In essence to overcome the forum being used as a cash machine. I've set some requirements before access to post within these sections is allowed.

                      1. 50 Posts
                      2. 30 Days registration
                      3. 5 or greater Repuation Level (See Here - Reputations)

ALL must be achieved NOT just one or the other.

                      ####Extra terms of usage## added 14th Feb 2010.####
The practice of interfering with threads is NOT be allowed within these sections.

                      1. Only post a response to selling / wanted posts if your a genuine potential purchaser / seller
                      2. No posts that undermine the original sellers / wanters post.
                      3. Only bumping allowed by the seller / wanters - once every other day

Failure to comply will result in access being removed with your reputation being kept at zero for 30 days.

We will monitor this over the coming months - we do have other tools at our disposal from moderating all posts to assigning a new moderator/s to look after this section akin to guard dogs that have teeth to remove posts that are interfering.

If people want advice on a possible purchase they can access the main forum. Put the shoe on the other foot if your selling and someone suggested it too expensive its the sellers choice to set a sale price and its the buyers choice to decide if they wish to purchase. Third party views not needed.

                      ################################################

Those outside this can view but NOT post. So potential buyers have the opportunity to see what is for sale and can check back through a members posts to see some history.

Other stipluations are that "Any Thread", offering sale of items outside these two forums myself and mods will be remove them without consultation with the thread owner.

This is our first strategic attempt to overcome certain members who join and leave a trail of mess with dodgy goods and unhappy members not getting what they expect.

Also Chat will be pulled into this to stop scammers attempting to peddle stuff under the counter out of mine and mods overall view.

If you feel you meet the above and want me to double check your status then please PM me direct.

Please understand that this is not something I really want to do, but given a few scammers attempts lately my concern is to ensure that we have a better level of protection for members.

We do have other options to play with after this but it will make access even tougher.
Please remember the rules I've already tonight removed posts from sale threads that are not interested buyers.....pls pls refrain from posting unless your interested in buying...
                      Cheers

The system updates once an hour, so once you've met the criteria that was in the main voted for by the members for access to for sale & wanted. Within an hour your access levels are updated. Thus saving me to have to update peoples access rights manually as i'm not online 24hrs a day...

Every member gets an intro pm that tells them the rules at the outset so there are no excuses for breaking them and we will move threads that blatently break them without notification. Nothing personal but there are not very many rules on here so the very least we ask is people to respect them.

Some additional notes to read over......

#########Updating and Editing Posts or BUMPING #####added 03rd November 2012######

If your changing any status in the item whether it be the details on the item or items or payment status you only ever need to EDIT the original post.

The only time you should ever need to add another post to the original thread is to respond to a question or the allowance every other day BUMP (A bump is a pure post stating 'BUMP' that puts it to the top of the list in forsale purely for the purpose of reminding people you have item or items still for sale).....

Things like a buyer puts payment sent in a post all the seller has to do is to THANK the poster not add another post saying payment received if you feel the need to communicate with the buyer then PM directly.

The threads in the forsale section should be minimal in terms of posts the OP should be highly detailed and constantly edited until item/s are sold.
