  • DX7 old version tight throttle!!

Hi all. The left stick vertical movement seems a little stiff on my DX7. It is usable bur i'm just being fussy!! Someone else probably wouldn't notice!!
Have you any recommendations to loosen it up either by changing bushes, lubrication, other alterations etc?
    Cheers.
    Cheers all.....Karl...

You can change it to suit.

    Read the manual

You have to open it up which is just removing a few screws, and then adjust the tension by unscrewing the metal friction plate on pitch. You should have the smooth one for heli use, i.e no raised bump in the middle.

Grease is a good idea, but only use a little amount to prevent migration and make sure it is plastic safe lithium or silicone. Bearing in mind that it does come pre-greased.

There is a nice mod to the old Dx7 which costs around £10.00 for a full set of bearings and takes about an hour to do. Just google it for details but it basically involves removing the gimbals and replacing the brass pivot bushes with proper ball race bearings. Makes the movements of both gimbals silky smooth and definately worth doing.

Err! must be the exeption to the rule then, takes me ages to read stuff n take it in but well worth it rather than being home to Mr **** up!!!! Colective stick on the Dx7- i always take off the teeth on the ratchet (bigger than mousechit!!)on the quadrent and lightly rub it over with a graphite pencil (HB), tension as normal, smooth as a babys bum! DO NOT get pencil lead in the back of the transmitter or it will go Fuzzzzzart!!!!!!

ive found white grease the best for maintaining that smooth feeling (without doing the bearing mod) but use very little!

I did the mod, some say it feels nicer - however it did solve my initial issue, that it sometimes feels that the throttle stick is stuck, I was after a smooth movement on the throttle stick just like on the cyclic. I also added some grease - final result didn't solve my issue, still sometimes need to stab it a bit as the stick feels a bit stuck - could be just me as others say it feels just nice ... but beware, the mod is far from easy, you can easily break a tiny bit off that holds the gimbal together and its very fiddly to do - when done, best with a lot of patience and time ...

Have to agree with Barry and others... gimbal bearing mod (link that Dave) posted is a very worth while mod.. no matter how much you slack off the tension springs, it will not feel as good as the mod.. makes the tx feel more expensive too, lol!

Just be very carefull prying the drum apart!!

To me the mod made quite a big difference but I am very fussy with my transmitters... I would really recommend it but only if you are aware that it's a bit of a job to do, and there are many chances to damage your transmitter if you do it wrong.

It's nice to see that the new Spektrum transmitters have full quad bearings as standard.

To be honest it was pretty smooth with the bushings as I said I'm just fussy. I think most people's problem is with lack of grease or too much tightness.
