Spektrum DX6

Ok so I bought myself a DX6 to get back into flying after getting out the hobby a couple of years ago. After doing some reading through I'm starting to feel that the DX6 doesn't seem a very popular handset compared to the DX6i, DX7, DX8 and the DX9. I bought it to setup with a 450x which I know has been discontinued but it will help me getting back into it and will possibly consider the 360CFX at a later date.

Have I made the right choice in buying this handset?

If it is a DX6 V2 it is a very capable radio and better than the DX6i...

Spektrum have an irritating habit of recycling names, so as long as it is a current model DX6 it is a great radio.

The current versions of the DX6, DX7, DX9, DX18 are all part of the same family and share some really useful features.

The original DX6 predates the DX6i which was itself replaced by the current DX6.

Similarly there is the old DX7 and DX7SE which were replaced by the DX7s which was then replaced by the current DX7.

The DX8 has been passed by now and is not part of the current range.

Mark sums it up nicely. if you are seeing negative reviews of the 'DX6' then check the date of the review. The new DX6 (lets call it DX6 'V2' to avoid confusion) has only been around since 2014, so any older reviews will be talking about the original DX6 which has been out of production for quite a few years. The DX6 V2 is a very nice radio and perfect for the helis you plan to fly.

The current DX6 is way better than a DX6i. Names are very confusing!

I just downgraded from my dx9 to the dx6. I love it and it more than meets my needs as i am never intending to get into the hobby too much ie my 450 and my 130 etc now due to ill health.
