  • New update for DX6, DX7, DX9, DX10, DX18...

    NEW Multi-Rotor AirWare Update Available
With this update, your Spektrum™ transmitter will give you the option of selecting a Multi-Rotor model type that includes specific programming functions for multi-rotor aircraft. These additional functions will be particularly useful with the new AR7700 serial receiver that should be available any day now.
    What's New

While the new programming will vary slightly from transmitter to transmitter, common features will include:

    - New channel input names: Altitude, Roll, Pitch and Yaw
    - New multi-rotor items for pre-flight checklists
    - New multi-rotor flight mode setup
    - New channel assignment options that let you customize control inputs for each flight mode
    - New voice alert options for multi-rotor functions

The complete list of multi-rotor features for your transmitter is available in a Software Update Read Me file on the Spektrum Community site.
    Update Version List

This AirWare release applies to the following transmitters and updates their software to the version shown. Remember to back up the models in your transmitter's memory to an SD card before installing this update.

Thanks for the head's up Mark.
My emeil notification hasn't come through but sure enough the file is there to download. I updated and all went smoothly, there seem to be quite a few tweaks other then the multirotor stuff.

Did you have to re-bind all your models after doing the update ?
Too many helis and planks, well that's what she says.

        Hello Phill
I have not needed to rebind and every thing seems ok, But i have had to reset all my telemetry stuff. Spektrum does warn you about this....

For some reason I just couldn't get the new sound files to work, it kept saying the file was corrupted during the installation. I tried the english file about 3 times and then tried the full language one and couldn't get them to load. Now my voice stuff isn't working at all.

I'm guessing I'm the only one.

There have been problems with this update for quite a few people but the Spektrum guys are on it and should have an updated very soon.

There's been a fair bit of chat about the issue over on RCGroups forum. It's a huge thread but the relevant posts start somewhere around the point in the link below.
If you follow the discussion you should find out when the fix is released, or you could check the Spektrum downloads site for an update from time to time.

Voice appeared to be working ok for me, I didn't update the voice file, only the firmware.

I updated both on my DX9 and it's perfect. But for some reason the sound file appears to be corrupt or it corrupts the Tx sound files when loaded on some Tx's but not in every case. As far as I'm aware the issue is limited to the sound files and doesn't have any effect on the RF side of the Tx operation, but don't hold me to that!

Andy Kunz (Spektrum) has a fix in Beta at the moment so just avoid updating the sound file until the fix is pushed live.

Firmware Version 1.09 has been released and is now up on the Spektrum community site.

The firmware version numbers will be a bit different depending on the particular radio you have.

It is necessary to install the new updated firmware first, then install the sound file again even if you had previously installed it.

Indeed you are correct. Sorry I was concentrating on DX9 1.09 firmware and had forgot it extended to other Tx's

Once you have 1.09 installed you should reinstall the voice files just in case.
