  • New XG 11

I just purchased the new XG 11, upgraded from a DSX 9. First impressions look good I prefer the colour of this one compared to the DSX 11. It feels nice in the hand and has a wealth of programming options so should keep me busy for a while. Free 8 channel receiver offer is also good and off sets the cost a little. Best price I have found is Inwoods at £589.

Anyone know if the free rx offer is still on for this radio?
I'm looking to replace my dx 7 se & having to buy 5 extra rx's is a big advantage over having to buy 6
I can't find it cheeper than £589 either but itv found it a lot more expensive where I normally shop

We only got futaba snobs in our club I think there's a 8fg 12fg 14mz & a 18mz nobody has a top end jr as most are using dx 7 or dx 8. I think the 14fg is gonna be expensive when it comes as its going to be an upper range radio. so if the 8fg is around £300 u can bet the 14fg will be a fair bit more ie £700 which makes the 11xg a bargain. I just wish I could get my mitts on one for an hour just to try it in my hands as I realy hated the 12fg & the 18 mz's heavy & bulky feel.

UK pricing is already available on the new 14SG, Ripmax - Futaba 14SG - Combo with R7008SB Receiver (Mode 2) (P-CB14SG/L)

549.99 full retail, so I guess we can expect a little discounting from there.

I really like my DSX11 - great stick feel, switches are well positioned, HUGE backlit screen and very easy to program.

Only complaints - the stock battery life is crap, and it would look much nicer in the XG11's case. Telemetry and metal trim switches would have be nice too!

However it does feel very substantial - much heavier feeling than a DX7, DX8,DX18 and I think the Hitec Aurora thing (only radios I've felt), so if you thought the 8FG was heavy and bulky I don't think you'll like the XG11 as I am pretty sure the 8FG is a small and light radio. Build quality is great - the only tx that I've held that felt better built is the DSX9.

Also it took a bit of getting used to as I have quite small hands and the JR DSX 9 and 11 have larger stick throws than other radios.

I think that was the 12FG & 18MZ that were too heavy and bulky, not the 8FG, which is as you say rather on the light side.

                  Re: New XG 11

Ah okay I read that wrong. Some pics I just took so you can compare the size with your dx7:

The probs I had with the futaba stuff was it was a fair stretch to the sticks for my pinch method
the dx7 is just so easy to use its just a shame it looks like a toy or it would be replaced with another
