11x battery alternative

Which is a good alternative battery for this tx? The obe i got with it only lasts about 20 flights

Hey.

I'm guessing like the DSX12 I have that it uses the hard case NiMh battery pack yes? If so then its quite easy to take this casing apart, remove the original stick of cells which are quite low on the mah front and replace them with a bigger pack.
You can just about fit in some 2700 mah NiMh which is what I have in mine, I got the pack cheap off eBay but similar can be had from the likes of Midlands to do the same job.

There is a little soldering involved but its only two wires to connect the battery to the circuit board in the battery case.

Hey.

It is an easy swap, but I know where you're coming from by being cautious in attempting it yourself.
Perhaps if someone is nearby they'd offer to do it for you or an electronics company.

Unfortunately JR do not offer a larger capacity battery option to my knowledge, the other option was to fit Li-Ion cells in the battery box using the same method as above. However it's widely reported that JR sets are not designed to run on Li-Ion/LiPo and so I have not gone down that route myself, others running LiPo cells in the JR Tx's fit resistors in the power line to bring the voltage down so as not to blow the transmitter.

Another option would be to actually buy another battery pack and run two, so as one goes flat just swap it out for the other to keep flying.

i just saw this and i just wanted to know if i could use this life battery in my jr 11x or will i need to mod the tx?

Dunno if Li-fe batts suffer from over discharge like lipo's but to me they aint worth the hassel. Ya leave it on once by accident and thats the batt fubar. Get a 2700 eneloop, I have one in my 11x & fits fine & lasts for donkeys. You'll find that there is a foam insert inside the battery compartment that could be removed if needed to give more room if you decide to opt for a different sort of batt.

The plug on any batt can be changed for the proper JR ones quite easily and are available from :- Home

Get the ones with the wire already installed, makes the job much easier.

P.S check ebay, cheaper than overlander !

And they now come with Jr plugs

how long do these really last?? e.g. in flight number????? because im counting flight numbers with my current battery.The only thing im worried about is i go to the field the the tx battery is dead lol

I've never counted the flights but more than enough for a full days flying even if your hammering it. If you buy a bigger pack then you'll have that plus the standard pack as back up. Just keep em charged and no problemo.
