  • Dsx9 mk2

    Hi guys,

    I have purchased a DSX9 MK2 from a Taiwan store.
I bought it to replaced my current original DSX9 because of the backlit screen, throttle linked timer etc,
    I have a few questions....

Is this version intended for UK only? (ie: Low Power output)
I'm in Australia so I'm concerned that range will be reduced to the point where it may be unsatisfactory in Australia's higher output RC environment.

Are you guys happy with range performance over there?

Have any of you operated a low power output TX in a country where higher output is allowed & had good results?

Has anyone had the DSMX update done to the MK2? Is it even possible?

I guess a range check will paint a good picture, but I haven't bound to any of my models yet.

I thought the UK forums would be the best place to ask.

    Thanks in advance.

    1) DSX-9 is the name given to the European version - I *think* the US version has a different number.

    2) Since you bought it from Taiwan, it could be anything!

    3) The power level is a total red herring! You are talking about a difference of 3dB in a path budget of over 120dB! All Futaba 2.4 systems use the lower power output (100mW erp), as do all 35 MHz systems used in Europe. Nobody ever found range an issue on 35 MHz, where the antennae are far less efficient than on 2.4 GHz! The only time power is a problem is if the transmitter is one of the 10mW types intended for short range (indoor) operation. The DSX-9 does not fall into this category!

Don't worry about it - go fly!

I've been using a DSX-9 (mk1) since they came out, and have not had any issues in several years of intensive use!

No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.

As Pete says, just go fly.

I got the DSX9 MKII and also upgraded from the MKI for the same reasons. When doing range checks you will get bored of walking farrrrrrrr away.

Its a great radio so go fly, fly like the wind

Currently this is only being offered in the USA where Horizon Hobby are the distributor for JR and of course own Spektrum so they have a vested interest in making the upgrade available.

It is not currently available elsewhere to the best of my knowledge.

          Thanks for the info guys.
Just waiting on my Tx LiPo & Dimension Engineering Tx regulator to arrive then I'll be smashing those MK2 gimbals.

Until then, my trusty MK1 will be having some farewell flights.

Didn't get to fly yet, weather has been shocking & the new addition to our family arrived last weekend.

I transferred all my models over from my old DSX9 to the MK2 & re-checked VBar setups today.
Range tested to over 60 metres so I think it's good to go for a test flight.

            Thanks again,
            Dennis.

Does the mark two dsx9 have different gimbal throw to the mark one? Thought it would be a good place to ask since you have both?

I have a dx7, with 'short' throws, my friends dsx9 mark one has longer throws, i heard a rumour that the mark two had similar throws to the dx7

                thanks

                  I have owned both
And YES I can confirm they have the same throws

                  I've had my throttle shortened,
So now the same as the dx7/8

                  Hope this helps

He sent it back the same as I did Paul.

Apparently they now use proper plastic wedges made for the job unlike the mess they made of mine.!!
