dsx9 poor range

Just got a dsx9mk2 from inwoods yesterday range checked my trex 700 only get about 30 feet away and it looses signal tryed it full range missus on the phone watching it move (not running obviously) only get about 500 feet no signal . Tryed trex 450 same results my mcpx in reduce power manages about 8 feet . Not good just wondered if anyone has ever had same problem with a jr my dx 7 goes on forever in range check

Have you got both model and TX outdoors or was the model indoors and you outdoors.

Just asking as you state your missus was on the phone watching it.??

If it's brand new and you're not happy, take it back and ask for a replacement.

it seems like the newer radios that have come out, most of them have issues, it isnt clever!

Yes this is not good had similar problem with my first dx7 lost 2 planks returned transmitter horizon said nothing wrong with it slightly down on signal but nothing to worry about as a good will gesture replaced transmitter . The new one range checked 3 times further and never had another problem.

My new dsx9 mkII goes on and on and on and on with me inbetween it and the Heli etc etc makes no odds so you have got one with an issue then.

It's a rarity with JR but no brand is perfect

My DSX9 has been faultless for years, but my clubmate had two of them on the trott from the same shop that were both faulty out of the box. The first one resulted in a dead helicopter. The second one never even got used as the fault was noticed before any flights were made. However, both faults were not range related.

the only problem ive ever had with my DSX9 is that sometimes you go to turn on and it beeps and then goes off, and before it works again you have to unplug the battery and plug back in and it will work for ages again b4 doing it!

6 months on and mines faultless, as others have said, range checks until I run out of space!

Sent back dsx9 today after poor signal tryed another full range check at different location , local sports field with trex 450 ar 6200 reciever in full view of transmitter only got just over length of a football pitch before losing signal . I read somewhere that a full range check at ground level will give poor results any idea what distance should be realistic with a full range check at ground level my dx7 checks upto the edge of sports field 3 times further and still going strong on the same reciever. Is it true that in the air you should get upto a mile away ?

hi i haven't had a problem with my dsx9mk2 but i have herd of some problems with the spectrum output bored in some Set's have failed. if you contact McGregor they will say thats the only part we don't make !!

Got my replacement dsx9 from inwoods (very good quick service) did my range checks couldn't get no more than 12- 15 paces again i thought oh no here we go again same results with all my recievers. I took the dsx9 and my old dx7 down to our club airfield to do some full range tests and placed each transmitter 1 metre above the ground on a bench and using an ar 7000 spektrum reciever with a servo plugged in the throttle channel on failsafe drove in my car down the old ww2 concrete runway which is exactly half a mile long ( measured on google earth measuring tool ) i can get a full signal at half a mile away from each transmitter holding the reciever out of the window . Only losing the signal when i loose line of sight of the bench which i am more than happy with i am sure in the air the signal would be a lot further away. The results are that each transmitter will start to loose signal at exactly the same place full range however the dsx9 only gets its 12-15 paces on reduced power and the dx7 manages nearly 200 metres therefore it seems this reduced power range check is a bit varied . Afterwards i flew one of my old rough planes as high and far as i could safely see it without any issues on the dsx9 using an ar6200.
