Love my DSX 12.
Has it made me a better pilot? No, but it is a nice shiny toy
You can tell it did not cost £250 ish but only you can decide if its worth the cash to you.
They will only get mine when they prise it from my cold dead hands...........ONE Eddie Gold Star!

They are indeed silky smooth. The throttle stick has a slightly reduced travel compared with the elevator. Not sure you would notice unless you look though. Full pitch is full pitch etc.
Buy one, You know you want too

I love my DSX12 also, I got mine hot from delivery to Midlands on 23rd December 2008!
I wouldn't say I makes you a better pilot, only practice does that but the locked in feel you get flying one does make flying nicer. Ok you can probably get a similar if not faster reacting set in the form of a DX7SE but the physical feel of said transmitter cannot compare to the DSX12. Then again it shouldn't being 5 times more expensive!
If you can justify the cost and fancy one then get it as it's a rewarding set to own.

I flew with a DSX 12 today, other than it being a little bottom heavy it was really nice

Isn't it something similar (weight wise) to a DSX 9, Tom?Originally posted by Tom Burgess View PostI flew with a DSX 12 today, other than it being a little bottom heavy it was really nice

What I mean by botom heavy is that even with a tx balancer, the 12 had a tendency to swing flat against the stomach (using a strap to take the weight) whereas with a dx7 using a similar balancer it will lay aerial down. It's all preference at the end of the day. A longer balancer and the 12 is a winner. I like the shorter collective throw too which IMO the 9 lacksOriginally posted by CookieMan View PostIsn't it something similar (weight wise) to a DSX 9, Tom?

I understand what you meant more clearly now Tom and find it (again) similar to what I experience with the DSX9 - it tends to 'lean' backwards against the body [I use it with a G-Force Balancer]. The collective on the 9 is yeahh, rather long

Feels much nicer than the Futaba 10C and 12FG and I think it's made better too. I fly fingers and thumbs and both the DSX9 and DSX12 fit in my hands better than the Futaba tx's.Thanks but does it feel like it's worth it?
smooth silky ect
IMO, the gimbels are much smoother as well.
It's a lot of money and depending on your flying style, may be a bit over the top. I like it because it has some functions I definitely want and it seems to offer enough for anything you want and the programming is easy. I had the 12FG and it was also a good tx, but seemed to have way too much for my needs.
If I had a grumble, it would be switch allocation. You are limited with this on both the 9 and 12.Last edited by antsis; 18-06-2010, 09:15 AM.Ant

I went DX7 to DSX9 to DSX12. The upgrade from DX7 to DSX9 was justified in that I needed 8 channels.... and to be honest the DSX9 is all the TX I would ever need. However I got myself a DSX12 for last Christmas........ because it was gorgious, and because I could! I will never use all it's features and facilities. I will never be more than a average sport/hobby flyer. I will never live up to anywhere near it's capability.
I cannot justify the DSX12 in any way at all, it is stupidly expensive and to be honest, unless you need more than 9 channels, the additional cost of the DSX12 over the DSX9 is so huge it is reduculous.
However I am really glad I have the DSX12, I really love it. Don't regret buying it and hopefully will keep it and use it forever!Edmund

One thing that put me off is the unequal collective, think it's about 25% less bottom travel than normal, just don't feel right to me. Very sweet apart from that tho. Oh and the stupid cost of the battery...Velocity 50
