  • Different Futaba RX's

What is the main difference between these 2 rx's??

I still unsure on all the different variations.

I have a 7008SB that came with the radio on Spunky as I plan to have telemetry on it and the rest I have brought the 6203SB but I have just seen this 2008SB.

Using SB as I do and as long as they say full range does it matter? What do I need to look for when deciding what to buy??

The 2008 is FHSS compatable so it wont work with any thing except 6J or the 8J or the 18 that can do both modulation types...

all the other futaba is FASST compatible..

The 14sg can also use that receiver, it is the only other one that can, but it belongs on the list alongside the 18

Fhss is not as good as fasst, the 6203sb has actually been discontinued, the replacement is not in th uk yet. I have quite a few 6203's and won't be changing them unless I want telem on said model. Tbh I will only use telem on my 700e packs and my 120cc pilot sbach for engine temp so no mass rx change for me.

Stick to fasst for expensive stuff for me. You lose error checking and some other gimmicks with fhss.

        Cheers

            Re: Different Futaba RX's

If you buy an 18 mz or a 14 sg why the heck would you want to use the inferior FHSS system . The receivers are about 1/3 the price for a reason . If i could afford an 18 i dont think id even use FHSS on my planks or 450 .

Look at it the other way around, if you start with a lower end FHSS TX then you have a route to a better TX without having to dump your existing investment.

Also, even if you can afford to buy an 18MZ it doesn't mean you want to waste money on a cheap foam plane by putting in a better rx than you need.

Additionally there are a number of ready to fly planes that ship with an FHSS rx built in.

my sentiments exactly. foamy=frsky fasst or fhss, now with my 14sg i have the option. if choice is frsky fasst or futaba fhss then no brainer really for indoor stuff/park flier.

                cheers

Rob, no one has said they want to use them. I merely want to know what the difference is.

So the answer is the FHSS is inferior to the other?

in a word, yes. FHSS is futabas way of competing if you like with spektrum prices. fasst rx's are more expensive for a reason than fhss/dsm

copied from RR to save me typing it-

FHSS= is a simple frequency hopping system, will not scan the band at boot and no error checking capabilities

FASST: Hybrid FH/DSSS channel shifting system, it will scan the band at boot and has error checking and correction capabilities. FASST is what Futaba uses in commercial systems.

                    cheers
