  • 8FG failsafe settings?

I have set throttle to -135%
    Cyclics and tail to 0%

Is this right or would you set things differently?

    Cheers

There at least 2 opinions here:-

    1) Throttle to idle, and all other channels at "hold" (hold last position)

    2) Throttle to idle, and all others to neutral (Pitch =0, Cyclic =0, Tail=Rate Mode, Governor =off)

Personally I set mine to (2), which "should", give as slow a crash as possible.

The reason for "failsafe" setting IMHO is to give as much time as ;possible to shout warnings and get clear of the model............ saving or limiting damage is NOT the prime purpose. In a failsafe situation I'm happy to write off the model, as long as everyone is safe.

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

mine is set the same on this one 0pitch and fully closed throttle the last thing u want is a model coming at anybody full tilt very dangerous situ to be in!!!!

I tend to prefer option 1 as it is less likely to cause a sudden change in trajectory so the crash is a bit more predictable.

I don't think there is any right answer though.

          You're spot on.........it's like politics/religion

But one setting is DEFINITE, and that's throttle to idle, not off, because if it does recover from the Failsafe, you really don't want to attempt recovery with a dead engine.

It would be interesting for someone to test all the options, and work out the best solution..........anyone got a load of models we can use for destruction testing ?

The best solution for any particular incident will always be the one you didn't choose

Depends on the receiver, with the 617 you only have the option of shutting the throttle.
