  • Spektrum dx7 or module?

Hi Guys was just wondering what your answers would be. If the module based system had been available at the time of purchase would you have purchased it?
If you purchased a Dx 7 and the module system was available why did you buy the dx7.
This only relates to spektrum and NOT the futaba fasst system
    Thanks Steve

I bought the DX7 as it has been designed for 2.4Ghz from the off.

Hi Dash thats a very good answer suppose thats about the best there is lol.
Are you aware that the module in the Futaba and Jr sets are the rf output so no need to change anything internally?

Yes, but fortunatly for me I had only just started flying Heli's and apart from the cheapo 35Mhz set that came with my Twister CP it was a 'no-brainer' of a decision to buy the DX7. Also I love technology and I could not resist the 'latest and greatest'.

Lets not muck about. 2.4Ghz and the Dual Link from Spektrum is a major leap forward for radio controlled modelling. I love the fact that you dont have to worry about frequency control etc.

            Steve,

            DX7 for me.

            Three reasons

            1. Simple tx to use with enough functions
            2. Model Match ( big advantage if you have lots of models)
            3. Battery power consumption. ( mine last forever on the supplied 1500mAh pack)

            Cheers

            Matt

Just thought of another one. I don't like the lead hanging out the back of the module converted one, altough ARKY has modded his to fit inside the tx

Funny you should say that! as thats the part that worries me also looks
a bit fragile. Hope Jason reads this and posts an image of his conversion.
              Cheers Steve

I think id rather keep my existing radios features though.

Same for me. There was no dis-advantage to changing from my FF7 to the DX7, also it removed the worry of shooting / being shot down whilst in the back garden etc.

I still have the FF7 to run the Micron, but nothing else is on 35Mhz now.

I have recently purchased a DX7 & to be honest am finding it hard going. Before you all jump in calling me a heathen I will explain why.
I've been using Multiplex radios for some years, they are full of functionality & suit the types of models I fly. I dont just fly helis I fly planks & F3F style slope soaring gliders. The DX7 doesnt have the software to be able to do the mixes I require for my gliders neither does the pcm 9x.
My Multiplex Royal Evo 9 is also very thin, ergonomicaly it just fits my hands perfectly whilst the DX7 is fat & bulky & just feels awkward at the moment. No doubt I will get used to it, as it just requires time but it is knocking my confidence at this point in time.
When I get my hands around the tx I am unable to stretch my index fingers to fly thumb & finger & no matter how much I practice I can not get used to flying thumbs with my helis.
Soon as Multiplex bring out a 2.4 gig module that has a CE mark I will sell my spektrum set & go back to my beloved Royal evo 9.

I went for the DX7 initially to stop stuffing my 450 for no reason of my own, but I soon grew to like it and since then ive converted it all to 2.4

I now like the design, I didnt to start with. It feels alot nicer in the hands than the FF9 imho

I like how easy the kit is to setup

                      I like the model matching

I like the small lightweight receivers

I like not having to wait for the peg

I dont like the modules because of the wire

I dont like the modules if your using both 35 and 2.4 as keep swapping them cannot be good

I dont like the chat thats been going on about low voltage cutouts

Overall the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, well for me anyway
                      All the best
                      Tony.

                          Wot he said

But do prefer the menu system of my old T7C.

I found the changeover from T7C (Fieldf force 7) to DX7 very easy.
Menu's took no time at all to get used to - programming is fractionally easier with a jog wheel on the T7C, but otherwise, it's about the same.

I miss the buddy lead switch of the FF7 a bit... that's all.

                            Cheers,
                            Rob

I went for the DX7 after scary gliching on my trex 450. I also had out grown my JR x347 but only because of the limited model memory!

I do love the DX7 and its user friendliness and sharp feel.

I didn’t go for a module because it would of cost my almost as much!
