Give INWOODS a call for a charger

There always hard to beat on price and value.........and NO I don't have any association with Inwoods, other than saving money in my pocket with them

As for a strap adapter, I made one from a small metal coathanger I had lying around in the shed. Not 'bling' but cheap and functional

not really... you won't pick up a decent digital peak charger for less than £45...not to my knowledge anyway

I saw Richie's and copied him, only I used a 5 inch marine M4 or 5 I had lying about and it works a real treat, cost about £1 for 2 with nuts.

i was looking at the normal chargers and they are around £10 lol
i thought maybe there was something for around £20 that would do the job. im not after lightening fast charging just something to get that 30 hours down to more like 10.

i saw one for the dx6 at $26 that cuts it form 46 to 19 hours i thought maybe there was the same for the DX7

that probably will work fine..depends on its output as the the dx7 comes with a 1500mah battery so if the charger puts out theoreticly 1.5 amps(=1500mah) it'd take an hour to charge,, its all simple maths

Do make sure you get the polarity correct!

I'm using a std wall charger for my tx. It gets left on a good while occasionally. I've never had it go low at the field. With the normal 70mA wall charger there is no real chance of damaging from over charging.

you say simple but ive been told that maths so many times and still cant remember it. voltage and amps and watts and all that boggles my brain. thanks for the info.

thanks for that link im really uneasy with chargers and power supplies it cost me £72 for the cellpro then £30 for a power supply for it cos none of my 4 supplies would work so im not too happy about forking out more one something so simple. these prices are a true rip off we are all being had big time.

so do you reckon i'll be ok with the Ultra Fast, Smart charger for race packs on that site? and i how do i know the right polarity?

However, if a standard JR charger was to be used for the purpose of charging/recharging the DX7 kit, I understand that it would take some 37½ hours for the transmitter battery supplied to reach full charge. Now Weston UK have come to the rescue by producing a bespoke little kit consisting of a suitable charger, together with a 4.8V 1500 mAh receiver battery pack, that can charge both the transmitter and the battery pack in around 15 hours. I simply bought one from the Local hobby shop for £15. It had lots of connectors on it. I had to re wire the suitable one so the outer part was live (as per manual p10). I can charge at 0.5A , 2.5A, and 5A. I am sure it is not the best charger, but it works fine for me

The normal wall chargers just keep going at 70mA and don't switch off, but 70mA is not enough to bother a 1500 mAh pack you could leave it on forever and it would do no harm.
I just use this normal charger for my tx. It doesn't matter that it takes ages to charge the pack from empty, becuase the pack is never empty and leaving it on overnight is plenty to keep it topped up.

So you could get the cheapest charger off that page http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html..._control1.html, and you can set it to between 50 and 300mA, but at 300mA you should take care not to leave it on too long. 300mA would charge 1500mAh in 7 hours from empty. These chargers are plug top (plug straight into uk 3 pin socket) and you set the charge rate and the number of nicad/nimh cells with little dials on the front so you can charge tx or rx packs butnotboth at the same time.

If you got one of the auto switching ones then you can leave them plugged in and after the battery is full it will switch to a trickle. It detects the battery voltage rising and when it stops rising (delta peak) it switches to the trickle. So whatever state the battery is in it will charge it full and then switch to a trickle.
The trickle is important becuase the latest more environmentally friendly cells can be prone to early deltapeak switching, so the trickle for the rest of the night makes sure they are actually full in the end.

As the prices go up down the page the chargers are capable of higher charge rates but are otherwise the similar.

Most of us use field chargers with 12 power input. I have a caravan cooler 12v power supply to power mine when at home. My charger is one of these:

This will charge all types of battery lipo, lead acid, nicad and nimh and you can set the current. it will discharge them also, and cycle them several times if you want. It also tells you how many mAh it has put in, so you can give your pack a health check.
I can charge my tx, rx pack, and even my battery drill that I use as a starter with this.
I charger like this is a good investment at under 50 quid.
