  • Spektrum multiple models

Does anyone know if you can have two models programmed into a Spektrum DX7 for one actual model?
I like flying the Knight but my set-up is considerabley different to Mrs Leeberts.
Will the tx / rx bind together on both models or will I need to use the bind plug every time?
    Thanks.
    Cheers, Lee.

when you bind the tx to the rx your actually binding the model memory to the rx.

so when you change model memory it will be looking for the rx that that memory is bound to.

I think your only option is to rebind each time, or to try and get somwhere near using flight modes for each setup.
Or leave 'er indoors' model alone!

I just tried to do this and the answer is NO.

I bound to 2 model memories but it only works with the last one I did.

          Hi Lee

Why don't you setup Idle up 1 as a softer setup for Paula and Idle up 2 for you? But putting more expo in on Idle up 1 it will be fine for learning. I remember saying to ade that I though the collective response was too sensitive and in a couple more flights had got used to it and wanted more!

The biggest difference will come from a lower headspeed. With the DX7 you could run 2 different headspeeds using a gov or of course with your throttle curves. Try say 1600-1700 for Paula and see what thats like.

How about configuring the setup for you then copying it to a spare model memory (say #2), then configuring the setup for your better half and copying it to another spare memory (say #3). Bind the model to memory #1 and copy from either #2 or #3 to #1 depending which of you is going to fly.

Would this work? or would it require re-binding each time?
Peace: Being left alone to examine the new bits you've just bought!

I think it would require rebinding. I tried a couple of thing because of the same reason my son needs things set up a little gentler than I we were trying to use 2 transmiters though, but couldnt do it. its part of the safety feature of not being able to get the wrong memory when flying.

I've basically done just that but with Paula on Normal and me on idle1. Paula has slightly reduced swash, 25% expo, a low headspeed (for extra stick time and to stop the training legs wobbling) and a reduced bottom end on the pitch (-2, 0, 10). I have no expo, full pitch & swash but I think the Raptor black paddles are now the limiting factor.
I might try limiting Paula's settings a bit more but changing the paddles for something more responsive - what do you guys think?

DbyMA: Yes, it needs re-binding to which model you want to use

Not to be beaten by the computer programming, I've just been playing...

It appears that you CAN copy configurations from spare model memory locations into the model memory that you used to BIND. Model Match would appear to be locking onto the model memory location number.

I've tested this by copying memory #1 to memory #2 and then again to memory #3. I then changed the TH setting in #3 from 4% to 50%.

                  Now when I copy #2 into #1 and select #1 I get 4% TH, and when I copy #3 into #1 and select #1 I get 50% TH.

I would expect other configuration changes to behave similarly. Hope this helps.

                  cheers,

                  Mac

ps. No re-Binding is required between config copy changes. Just copy, select and go.

The biggest single change should be get rid of the training legs. In my opinion they make the model actualy harder to learn with.

Are you buddying her or is she on her own?

She is flying on her own (and doing bloody well IMHO ).
I did have to turn the headspeed right down to stop the training legs vibrating like mad.
When I fly it (without the legs) in Paulas mode it does nod occasionally indicating the headspeed is on the low side.
Having said that, she is on flight number 4 and she can pretty well put it down without any lateral movement. The legs will be gone soon I am sure
                      Cheers, Lee.

Well done to her, flying these things does take on a whole new feeling once the legs are gone

I certainly like it . I'm gonna have to raise my game though I think
Here she is after flight 2 or 3 I think, looking very happy with herself!
