  • DX7 Idle Up1

Happily flying in "normal" mode, now want to implement idle up1 or flt mode1. I'm coming unstuck at the throttle curve. First step was to mimic the "normal" throttle curve. What I find is that despite inputing the exact same % values for the points on the curve the curve is different from the "normal" curve. So at the mid point I have 50% on both modes but when I switch mode the throttle moves. Nothing in the manual. I expected the values to mean the same thing. Do I just fudge it and set it so the throttle stays still at the mid point?

sounds like you have some hovering throttle trim induced somehow.

also check your pitch curves are the same.

are you sure you need an idle up? what pitch range are you running?

just spent a few hours messing about and have the same thing ....click into stunt1 and the throttle backs off slightly....nothing else moves. click into stunt2 and nothing moves.
i increased thestunt 1&2 mid point throttle by 2.5% and nothing moves when flipping the switch???????

Have you moved the Hover throttle switch??

Make sure it's at the centre setting (bleeps on way up or down and stops at centre)
        Same goes for Hover pitch.
Maybe you've knocked it without realising.

hover throttle trim facility dissappears when you flip to stunt 1&2

Yes but if it's off centre in Normal mode then throttle will move back to centre when you flip to idle 1 or 2.

Ok thanks all, pretty obvious with hindsight. A little more difficult to fix though. The Hover throttle trim was the culprit, my instructor had set the hover at mid stick using the "Hover trim", kind of obvious thing to do. However as we discover that knocks out Stunt1 and Stunt2. What I did was mirror my Normal curve, not with % values but using the graph, into Stunt1. Then I went back to Normal and set the trim to mid position with the beep. Then I mirrored Stunt1 values back to Normal because the % values seem to mean the same thing now. So now I am flying with the throttle curve I was happy with and able to play with Stunt1 in a predictable way.

Great so far but the pitch curves were the same and I moved the trim before I had mirrored the curve, bummer.

Anyways at least I know whats going on now, thanks again.

I never use hover throttle or hover trim - in fact, I make sure they are disabled on the Tx if possible.
Purely set up on the real curves, that way, you know where you stand no matter which flight mode you're in or what stick position you're at.

                Cheers,
