  • Spektrum DX7 gyro question

    On my Futaba T7C tx, the remote gyro gain is on switch B and I can happily switch it between normal and HH in flight with different gains on each.

    I'd like to do this on my DX7 and put it on the "gear" switch as it's in the same place.

    Is this possible?? If so how

    The gyro is a 401 and the heli in question is a Knight Sport.
    Cheers, Lee.

    the gyro screen limits you to either rudder DR or on the flight mode switch your best disabling the gyro stuff and just using the gear end point adjustment to set the gain.

      The easy way - I hadn't thought of that

        Next question...
        On the Futaba, I had Normal and AVCS (HH). Normal is a "downward" value of 0 to 100 and HH is a "upward" value, also 0 to 100 (Up and Down relate to the little adjusty wheel thingy).

        On the DX7, all I have is 0 to 100 to cover both normal and HH. Is normal 0 to 50 and HH 51 to 100 with each point equal to 2?

        For example, Normal mode at 60% would be the Gear channel at 30%?

          From what I've seen tested elsewhere, I understand that threre's a 1.44:1 ratio between a DX7 and 401 Gyro.

          So 60% on the DX7 would produce 14.4% gain on the Gyro in HH.

          Whereas 72% (DX7) gives 32% HH (Gyro) and 28% (DX7) gives 32% NR (Gyro).

          calculated using:
          Desired_Gyro_Gain / 1.44 = DX7_Gain
          HH = 50 + DX7_Gain
          NR = 50 - DX7_Gain

            So, following that, a 77% HH gyro gain is an DX7 value of about 104?

            And, for example, a HH 100% gyro gain is a DDX7 value of 120

            Have I understood that correctly?

              Yeah. That's how the maths works out from the examples I seen, which I should have mentioned talks about setting up using the Gyro Sense feature, sorry!

              But, you did get me thinking, so I grabbed my DX7 and checked the Travel Adjust on my Gear channel, which I've used instead, and it can go from -150% to +150%! My settings are currently at +32% (HH) and -32% (NR).

                I think you are now back to the Gyro sensitivity screen way of doing things.

                If you use the gear channel as your gain channel then you can use the gear switch to effectively change between Rate and HH.

                You then put the swich up position to say + 55 (HH) and the switch down position to -45 (Rate) as a starting point.

                  DbyMA - posted at the same time

                  Both ways work fine, the only advantage to the way I mentioned was you can switch between rate and HH easier, but lets face it, thats no big deal.

                    I agree with richieclarkie. I tried it using Gyro Sense and switching using Idle-Up, but much preferred being able to switch using the Gear switch indepently of Idle-Up.

                      I agree with you both.
                      My reason to use the gear switch is because I've got use to it on my T7C (Switch B).
                      I'll adjust the Gear end points to set the 401 gain. Having said that, I'll only use normal for setting up the tail mechanically and then leave it in HH (it's the wifes learning heli)
                      Thanks guys
                      Cheers, Lee.
