  • What to do with my DX8

well the same old again with the dx8 had a total loss of control with the velocity 50 went in and smashed the heli to bits so returned the offending DX8 and reciever telem modual , no call nothing and this morning i revieved a nice shiney new DX8 and reviever and telemetry modual and a note to say there is nothing wrong with it apart from the elevator pot being slightly out but we replaced everything anyway !! whilest this is outstanding customer service, i did ask in my covering letter to HH about compensating me towards the repair of the battered velo50 and i got nothing not even a note to sorry but we cant compensate you just here is a new one send it back when it F*&k's up again hmmmmm what should i do now ??? im happy to use the new dx8 but i want my heli fixed and it needs new everything and i dont see why i should pay for it.

why are you happy to use your new dx8 when the other was responsible for trashing your expensive heli? There are so many reports of problems I wouldn't risk it personally.

No wonder the customer service is good they are having so much practice

Kel, You could always buddy it up with a dx7 then if the 8 fails just pick up the 7 and continue flying! Simples!

I just can't understand why people are willing to trust it again, or to begin with (considering the easily available info about its problems)

Once bitten twice shy seems to not be valid anymore, seems to be once, twice...... ninety times bitten, still not shy.

Sorry but rocks learn quicker than that.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

It is beyond me why anyone would still use the DX8 to be honest.

The only words of advice I can say is to either goto TS or small claims court, if they've enclosed a note asking for it to be sent back when not IF is almost in my view an admission of a likelyhood that it will. I whole heartedly feel that things are getting worse for the dx8 and with the events calendar about to step up a gear how long before we see something much worse.

I have never had a problem with my DX8. Its range is the same as a DX7, and I fly 3-5 times a week with it.

Just be aware not all are bad.

sadly this was always my answer as i had no probs with mine and it was from the very first batch that came into the country preordered last year but i now have a £800 bill to fix a heli that im not really caring to pay for ..

I think you'd have a tough job getting anything out of HH by way of compensation for your Velocity. The trouble with situations like this and the hobby as a whole is proving where the blame for a crash lies, we all know given its history that the DX8 is probably to blame but if all you've got it a Tescos bag full of ally and CF as evidence they're just going to turn round and blame your flying.
Its one of the harsh realities of this hobby, all you can do is suck it up and put it down to the price of an education!

                          See CAB or TS,

As an example my sister inlaw bought a used MGF from a local garage @ £3k, within two months its head went she approached the garage to get a refund thankfully she'd bought a warranty so the cost of the repair was covered but they refused her a refund. So she got the RAC to inspected it prior to the work being done gave her a report used the Money Claim system got her £3k back and the car was returned.

She said it cost her £75.00 to do the claim.

Just keep checking it, I thought exactly the same until 2 weeks ago when my aileron pot went. I really hope that you don't have a problem with it but you are far better of checking it each time rather than having a damaged model or worse.

for me personnally there is too much bad press and ive personnally seen these units fail I'll not be using mine again until a definative answer is forthcomming
                            All the best
