  • iPhone app for Spectrum Telemetry

"Kol" sent me a link to a new device that allows iPhone connection to a Spectrum Telemetry module - I don't use an Iphone - but this may be of use to some of you?

Shame phones arent allowed anywhere near the pits or the flightline.
In light of all the recent issues surrounding lock outs I think this should be given a very wide bearth.
I had a near dissastrous experience with a mpx royal evo with synth module where everytime someone got a text my set would lockout.
It happened in the pits just after I had started a plank the plank had just been unrestrained ready to pick up & take to the flightline. At full bore it narrowly misseda fellow club member & stowed itself in his brand new unflown flair yak
Phones & rc modeling dont mix & the bmfa frown upon there use in the pits & on the flightline.

This isn't just for the iPhone, it also works fine on iPod and iPad so no reason to worry on that score.

Out of interest, does anyone have a recent example of a modern cell phone causing problems on 2.4GHz?

It was never about the frequency it was about lack of sheilding of the rf module with the mpx sets.
Has the Bmfa changed their stance on mobile usage? I very much doubt it.

Another thought on 2.4g ie wifi on mobile phones. if as most people tend to leave there wifi on there phones active would this in turn reduce the number of channels available to our TX's or is it irelevant?

Yea I have tried one but it didnt help when I was texting, playing Angry Birds, and trying to fly at the same time.

I don't see why not as it uses the hardware attachment not its own receiver.

As to what use it is I guess for most people probably no use at all

I can see it being handy at times though for someone else to be monitoring engine temperature for example while tuning, but I wouldn't class this as essential, just interesting.

Martin if you put your Iphone in to airplane mode It doesn't transmitter or recieve so sure that it would be ok in that mode.
Sure it would be ok or Spektrum wouldn't have made it. (would they?)
