  • Spectrum AR6100 - is it full range?

    Hi Folks

I've done some searching and I cannot seem to find a definitive answer. Does anyone know if the AR6100 receiver is full range? I know its recommended for small models, but many full-range receivers are.

I ask as I'm upgrading to 2.4Ghz and I've got a 1.5m glass slope soarer thats got less room in the fuzz than a victoria secret show at an all-boys boaring school. I can barely fit the smallest of JR receivers in there. Would the AR6100 be okay for this model, or should I consider the AR7000, despite the real trouble I'll have getting it in?

    Thanks
    Andrew

There is a Ar6200 coming out or out im not sure but its the same as the 1600 except it has the extra rx plugged in like the ar7000
The ar6200 is a full range rx the ar6100 is a park flyer

Are you sure about this? Its advertised as Dual-Link, and I understand that this is what gives it full range.

Just looked on the spektrum website and they do actualy refer to the ar6000 as a park flyer rx
There is no mention of the ar6100 being for park flyers in the details on the website,
But if your gonna go realy high and realy far out think id go with the ar6200 or ar7000,
All the reports i see about the spektrum gear far exeeds anything expected so i suppose its your choice

            http://www.spektrumrc.com/DSM/AirProducts.aspx

On that page scroll down the products look in the bottom left corne of each product there is a code and a breif description check out the ar6000 its the only one to say park flyer,
They all use Dsm2 except the 6000

According to Spektrum and Paul Beard the inventor of the system,2.4ghz waves are very directional and its easy to get a blind spot

This is why they say its imperative you fly with a dual Rx set up like the AR7000 with Antenna`s at 90 degrees to each other to minimise the chances of losing the signal,,this is why the 6000 and 6100 are only recommended for smaller and closer flying models,a big 50 has more likelyhood of blanking the signal with a miniature Rx with the one set of very short antennas

If you try it,,let us know if it works or not in practice

I have flown a Spectrum 6100 in a plank to give myself confidence in the range, admittedly it is all balsa with just the Lipo's motor and controller to blank the signal but a 1mtr span model as far upwind as I could see it must be at least 500mtrs. My 450SE with the same reciever got away from me once and must have been 150mtrs away thats with all of the carbon etc, I have found with the Spectrum you always feel locked in. Now all I have to do is get the heli flying sorted as there are no more excuses.
