Confused about stick tension - DX8

Ok maybe I'm being daft but what does spring tension on the sticks actually change?

I don't have a problem with how much pressure I need to put on the sticks of my dx8 but I find the "stop" in the centre of the cyclic annoying as it feels notchy. Is that the bit tha adjusting the tension changes?

I don't want to start tinkering and find I mess it all up.

i find the stop in the centre quite useful especially on aileron tictocs and rolls etc, helps stop the heli corkscrewing out of a manouver.

However i dont think youll get rid of the centre stop by adjusting the stick tension.
