DX6i Antenna wire problem please help

Hi All, ive broken my Dx6i antenna which led to the antenna wire being pulled out of the tx, so i opened up the tx and re-soldered the wire and it all works ok but now i only get approx 10 feet range does anybody have any ideas what could of gone wrong??? Thanks in advance.

If I was you I'd just get a new antenna from one of the main Heli shops.

Apparently the wire is not 1 peice, it is a little inner wire, insulated with a wire braid around it, with more insulation.
If either the inner or outer aren't connected properly or are shorting out, range will be severely affected.

Probably easier to get a new replacement ..... EFLH1058

I'm not quite sure and maybe someone could clarify, but if the DX6i is like the DX7 then the antenna wire plugs into the board, no solder required. If so then could the solder be causing to much resistance? I,m no expert, just a thought. You could contact Horizon and ask them.

As graham says, the wire is co-axial and you have soldered the outer screening to the inner wire. They are about £7 from HH and connect to the pcb with a tiny pop stud.
