  • DX7 Binding

Has anyone bound a DX7 yet?
I'm plugging the bind plug into my charge lead..
Plugging the power cable (from battery) into the Battery plug on the Rx.
Put power, but the RX LED just flashes once briefly, and that's that. It should be flashing, saying it's ready to bind. No joy.

I've noticed that in the male bind plug that I am connecting to the charge lead, the wires are connected to the two OUTISIDE connections. (As you know, there are 3). But on the charge leade, the Positive is in the outside pin, with the negative being in the middle. Is this normal?

              Thanks Ron.
I saw that, but have had no joy. I must be missing something. I can't plug in all the servos, as when I switch on the power on the heli, they start binding and stuff. So, is this right.

With NO servos in the RX, I connect the power lead from the RX power pack, into the RX battery socket (The bottom 3, separate from the 7 channel inputs on the RX).

I connect the bind plug onto the lead that I usually connect the recharger lead to on the side of the heli. The RX recharge lead is a female, so it goes into the bigger bind pluf. The female one, that looks like a normsla servo connection, just dangles, and isn't used.

I then power up the heli, which basically is just the battery connected to the RX, and the RX flashes once, very quickly.

              That's it...

I believe it should flash continuously to say it's in bind mode, but it doesn't. What am I doing wrong?

To add to that, I plug my battery checker into one of the servo connections tp test that something is alive, and it indeed shows full power on the battery checker.

Trex is different though. There's no charge lead, and no connecvtion from the battery direct to the Rx, is there?

Are you using the switch that came with the Spektrum radio? To bind you need a three wire lead for charging, most other switches only have the positive & negative wires. You could plug the binding plug into the battery connector on the receiver, then plug the lead from the battery into any other channel, power up the receiver and the led should flash then hold the bind switch in on the transmitter then power it up, this should bind the receiver. After binding is complete, power down & take the binding plug out then refit the servo leads and battery connection.

                          right craig, here goes
1 connect your bind plug to the recharge socket.for the trex use the batt socket.
2 switch on power(leds should flash quickly)
3 press and hold button on rear of tx...switch on tx
4 release button light will flash on tx button for a few seconds
5 leds on rx will become steady after about 5 secs
6 that should work remove bind plug and try controls

just read steves post well done mate

Binding via the charge lead will ONLY work if you have a 3-wire charging lead. Many of them only have two wires going to the charging socket, and in this case plugging the bind plug into the charge lead will have no effect.

To get round this, temporarily plug the power connection from the switch into one of the servo connections on the receiver (watch the polarity!), then put the bind plug directly across the battery connector on the receiver.

If that doesn't make sense, get back to me!
