  • DX7: AUX2 Gyro assignment help please

    Evening all

    A quick question please:

If The Aux2 channel is used for the the Gyro, in order to have two gyro gain setting in position 0 and 1, using the DX7 program :

Do you set your ATV to +100 and -100 for Aux2, and the new gains for position 0 and 1 (eg 58 and 65) ?

is that about right or have I done something wrong ??

    Kind regards
    Keep Well
    Zaidy

I start mine off at 72 and 72 then adjust accordingly
eg for 50% gain use 72

Gain * 1.44 gets the value to enter

    Therefore a gain of 60% = 86

    If you wanted 58% and 65% then enter 0: 84 and 1: 94

Why do you want two different gains?

If its for different headspeeds you might be better using the gyro sense function on the dx7.
it allows you to set different gains for all flight modes.
Dont use it myself as the gain i have set is ok for the three headspeeds i use.

I assigned gear as gear and not gyro. Then just used the travel adjust for gear channel to set it.

For some reason you cant assign the gear/gyro channel on a dx7 to switch between hh and rate so the 0 and 1 positions are redundant unless you are using f.mode to switch between gyro settings.I found that if you assign gear as gryo and then set differnt values for 0 and 1 position it doesnt actually work.
I think this will also be the case if you assign aux 2 to gyro. The settings for 0 and 1 will still not change the gain.
Just assign gear as gear and use the two gear travel adjusts to set the gyro rate. You can then switch between hh and rate using the gear switch

i have done likewise as i never understood what the gear function was i thought it was for fixed wing landing gear so dismissed it so if anyone knows what the function is for could you please let us know

I use the Gear switch for TH as its a little more comfortable to reach for when flying. I did have an option to choose from rate and heading hold on the dx6i but never used rate so got rid of the option.
As for two gains, thats an option I don't use simply because when I leave the ground im into idle up. If I need to tweak the gyro then I go to that menu option in the TX.

That is exactly what I am trying to do ! Different gains for different head speeds!!
I just wanted to explore the DX7 futures and want to try them out,,

                      On my DX7:
Gear switch = throttle hold [close at hand to throttle]
Aileron d/r = cyclic dual rate [not used much!!]
Rudder d/r = gyro sense [not used much either]
