DX7 disaster

I have a very unwell dx7,earlier today a glass of orange juice was spilt on it,I tried to get it dry but I think it's too late.I was flying my msr later on and the trims started moving theirselves up and down left and right,
So I switched it off,
Anyway,I have just been woken by the low battery alarm on it,I got up and the tx is on (even though it's switched off) the trims are going mad etc.
So I thought I would get into the menu quickly to write down the settings (had some complex setups for 3d planes etc) only to find the settings are all over the place and definitely not what I had programmed.
Unfortunately my wife threatened murder if I didn't shut it up so I had to pull the battery (from what I understand that means all settings lost)
Is it correct that a dx7 has no internal power storage so all settings will now be
Lost?
Either way the tx has changed them of it's own accord anyway.
What's the likely repair cost from horizon?

I think it my be better to buy a new one??
You may get it repaired the first time and then something goes wrong later
and more cost for repair's,,,,

Take it apart and stick it in the airing cupboard let it dry out for a day or so.

it does have an internal memory so you may be lucky. How about a can of computer cleaner? opening the back does not invalidate any warranties you may have.

If not then horizon hobby have superb back up and repairs service.As for price thats anyones guess. one of mine had to have the rf board replaced and a new ariel fitted that was £40 inc return postage

rinse it thoroughly under warm water, shake it dry and leave it in a warm place for a day or two.
If you can get distilled water from the gas station, that's even better. Computer cleaner should also work.

Take it apart clean it all up with switch cleaner, let it all dry out and try it, apart from that it's send it back to horizon, apparently they turn them round very quickly.

wash it out with distilled water ! that won't damage it any more then pop it in a warm place to dry.

stick it in the dishwasher! LOL! on a serious note i would use computer cleaner and then stick it in a dry place for a few days! i dropped a phone in the bath it took 3days to dry out but it worked fine after that! good luck!

Boggy is correct,had the battery out of mine loads of times with no probs

I would go the distilled water route and leave in the airing cupoard for 24hrs

I did take the back off and spray electrical contact cleaner everywhere.

distilled wwater route is fine. dont be scared and do a proper job. really flush it. then make sure it airs... WELL in a warm not hot place for a few days before you power it up.

Oddly in this case, yes, water is a lot better for it than orange juice.

The natural citric acid in OJ will rapidly corrode the contacts but good clean water (distilled preferably) will leave it nice and clean once it is dry.

Do make sure it really is dry before you connect a battery and turn it on though.

There is a chance that corrosion has already taken place as you really need to flush it out with water as soon as it happens, not leave it for 24 hours, but it can't get much worse now unfortunately.

Also you will find Horizon very reasonable when it comes to repairs like this if you can't rescue it yourself.

'Rinsing' is definitely somethng that's suggested as a 'nothing to lose strategy' for computer keyboards, etc. (Well, in the days when they were expensive.)

I'd be a bit more wary of the stick pots, though.

Thinking about it, I reckon you've not got much to lose, and it probably won't make much difference to what Horizon charge you anyway. I'm sure they've had Txs dropped in puddles, baths, etc, before...
