  • DX8 LiPo

I've just got one of these to go with a DX8 (that will be a Christmas present).

It looks like it only has discharge leads, and a generic LiPo manual.

How do you charge it ? (Is this covered in the DX8 manual ?)

[Apologies for my laziness. Just point me at the manual, if it's there.]

page 7 in the manual or if you look on the lower right hand side of the trannie theres a charging socket, the manual says just use the supplied charger to charge your li-po's @ 200Mah

just read that secton of the handbook, well you gotta do something when at work. Anyway it says using the supplied charger the first charge can take up to 30hrs depending on the charge of the supplied battery, but the blue light will go off when it is fully charged.

I believe they have also changed it so you have to actually put the lipo in before you can change the settings to lipo usage.

I should imagine a 4000mah will last a long time, well lets hope anyway
        All the best

          Ditto...

It seems the 'charger' is actually a power supply; and there's circuitry in the Tx to appropriately charge either the NiMH or LiPo.

Kind of a shame that you can't readilly charge the LiPo at 1C (4A) in an hour. You'd need to be careful, as there's no balance plug.

I guess doing an unbalanced LiPo charge upto maybe 70% should be safe - if I had an adapter to fit the discharge plug.

This lipo gives you some serious stick time between charges..no fear of needing a re-charge at the field or even a weekend err week away . I've only topped it off when convienant, the voltage drops very slowly indeed. I'm impressed.

            Other manufacturers should take note.

The 4000 lipo has it's own balancing circuitry built into the pack itself.

Had a new lipo not fully charge ie blue light wouldn't go out.

              Horizon swapped it no problem.

Like said , it looks like I will only be charging it a few of times a year LOL.
