  • Low power on a TX...

    I have a Hitec Eclipse 7 transmitter.
It has a battery in it.
The battery has the following on it:

TX MiMh Battery Pack 9.6V, 1,300mAh

When I switch on the TX, it shows me the voltage. I have just charged, and it says 11.1V. What does that mean? I thought the battery says 9.6V. Why is this different?

Also, when it goes down, it seems iit start warning me of low battery at 9.5V or something. What do these number means? 9.5, down from 11.1, doesn't seem like low to me. Low would be close to 0 volts, no?

Because, when you charge a battery it does so at a higher voltage than the battery voltage - to stuff in the charge so to speak.

The higher voltage shown is the result of the charge. It will drop to nominal voltage - 9.6v, but beware that it does not drop much below that before the battery doesn't have sufficient voltage to drive the power to the Tx. At that piont the system should sound the alarm.

Think of it this way. The voltage is the 'pressure' pushing the 'current' (miliamps) into the Tx. No pressure - no push - no miliamps working the Tx

What should the volt reading say when it's full then?

thats ok......a decent 8 cell AA pack when charged can reach up to 12v, so 11.6 is fine!
