DX8 Telemetry discovery

i was fitting my 700n with my new ar7100r last night and discovered that once i removed the align govner i plug the pickup sensor into the telemetry unit on the rpm sensor and it works ive yet to fire the heli up but looks like i wont be needing the rpm sensor now will report back on this on sunday after testing

it will be picking up two signals from the magnets instead of one from the crank shaft like its supposed to, worth a try though.

no as one of the magnets is reversed as per the gov its there for ballance not used as a pick up

try running a y lead

Before using a Y lead check for a common ground between the two devices. and you dont want to connect the +ve feed together they probably will be from diferent regulators that may not like being fed from diferent sources.
process to establish useability for this is as follows.

1. make sure the gov is plugged in to the RX dont connect the sensor to either gov or rx yet.
2. measure ohms between the black cable core on both the rx and gov this will tell you if there is a common ground should be only 1 or 2 ohms.
3. power the system up and measure the voltage on the red core to black core on both gov and rx should be either 3.3 or 5 v just check this its really important and if they are different you must modify the y lead first.
4. modify a y lead by removing teh red core from the section of the Y lead that will go to the device with the higest output voltage (rx or gov) this protects the other unit.
5. Plug it all in and check it works

well tested and it works perfect i tacko'd my head speed at 2060 and the telemetry read 2060 although its flickering a bit higher and lower it was there so you can use an align gov setup for RPM on the telemetry on a DX8

no y lead as im using an ar7100r this has a rev limiter built in kind of like a govenor so just removed the govenor control unit and plug'd it in to the telemetry you also need to set the DX8 telemetry RPM settings to 8.2-1 (gear ratio) i will post pics shortly
