  • Failsafe settings?

Hello all, need a bit of advice on the failsafe settings, Now I've finaly gone pcm on the Skyfox with an PCM9x Tx and an R900 Rx (and I've added a 8700g tail servo). What am I looking for in my fail safe settings.

Do I need to cut the throttle or leave it on tick over?
Do I need to dump the pitch or just a light descent?
    Rudder?

what have you lot aimed for? roughly obviously?

    thanks as always
    Col.

Throttle to idle, the rest are centred.
It's mainly the throttle you need to worry about when setting failcrash
(Failsafe my arse - if you lose signal, it's off in! - it's rare to have a heli failsafe, and come back in time to save it...)
So when it does hit the floor after losing signal, you want that engine to be idling.
    Cheers,

I have throttle to idle and all others hold last position but I agree totally with Rob, it's unlikely that it'll come back in time (as I found out last weekend). The important one - throttle to idle - did save me some cash on spares though.

I have had a lock out ages ago but did manage to save it. I have throttle set to idle and all other control surface set to centre.

You have to have any fail safe capable rx,s set to idle (tickover) by law now,
I beleive the CAA have included this in the air navigation order

I have had models lock out with both reset to neutral and hold last position on everything but the throttle, which in the case of the turbine model it happend on was set to shutdown.

I have to say, that out of the two the hold last position was far more effective in giving the pilot a chance to recover should the control come back. My advice would therefore be to hold last position on everything but the throttle, which should be set to tickover.

            Cheers,
            Pete.

Idle and hold last position works for me,not that i have ever needed it luckily

With DX7 you have no option but idle and hold

You have to be carefull with the dx7 tho because when you bind the rx it takes that setting for the throttle if you then reverse the throttle it will goto full throttle on loss of signal and not idle,
Always best to rebind after all settings are done

Trev used to have his set to held and centre everything else. Trust me pitch going to zero an a hurricane is a scary experience. He now sets idle and hold everything else. As do i.

                      LOL
Surely if the engine goes to idle in a hurricane, the heli is doomed anyway?

Well thanks for the input, Throttle to idle and hold everything else it is.

what we need is on loss of signal it lands safely 10 meters out....knowing my luck it would land upside down
