What battery for PCM 9XII

Hi All,

I've seem to have been unlucky with battery selection for my transmitter. I have at the moment a 2400 mAh NiHd battery and it only seems to last about 3 flights then it's down to 10v. Does anybody have any recomendations for a decent pack that should last me about 8-10 flights? Someone said that the genuine JR 1200mAh NiCd cells are really good. Quite pricey though.

have you tried cycling the pack, a 2400 pack should last longer than 3 flights
the std 700mah packs supplied with most radios easily do 3 flights.

unless your using a gasser with a half gallon tank

seriously, cycle the pack to see what capacity it has, if it is showing full capacity then your radio is drawing too much current from it.

there are lipos available now for the 9x, not cheap tho

lipos for a tx is a pretty bad idea, lipos hold voltage for ages and then just die suddenly.....you'd get no warning your tx was about to stop working.

TX battery meters aren't designed to work with lipos, until they are I'd be tempted to stay away from it.

another nice thing about futaba 9c, you can setup a timer that runs but doesnt reset until you reset it. So you know how long its been on.

closest thing JR has is model dependant. so if you fly more than one model down the field then your stuffed.

what about a 1amp load test like we do on the lipo rx batteries?

i have been using a 2500nimh but they are so fragile and its just decided to get a bit lazy. so now im back on the stock 600 nicad. i fly until it starts beeping not sure exactly how long this is but I cant remember the last time i flattened a tx battery at the field..

I've got a 2700 mAh pack in my 9xii which lasts about 3 days on a full charge!

It's the one that I bought with the Tx a year or so ago. It was an upgrade option at Inwoods. Give 'em a call - they'll almost certainly have them in stock.
