Glitching when buddy boxing !

Been teaching someone on the buddy box for a month or so. But the last few flights the heli is glitching alot when the pupil Tx is being used in trainer mode. When I fly the model with my Tx the model is fine!!

This seems to have started happening after a recent crash of the model. All was fine before.

I haven't tried the Tx we are using as a trainer/pupil on its own. But it was fine last week.

Instructor Tx = JR 9X v2
Pupil Tx = JR 3810
Model = T Rex 450

Any thoughts ??

First thought is a dodgy buddy lead or socket on either Tx

I would look at two things, one already having been mentioned, the buddy lead itself. The second thing I would look at is the aerial lead on the model, as it might have been slightly damaged during the crash and if not working properly can have an effect on the way the buddy box system works.

I think you could be right Pete.

Range seems to be an issue with the Buddy Box System as it is ATM.

This weekend we had many successful flights with me holding the Instructor Tx higher than normal, increasing the range and coverage I guess. Also when then the instructor Tx got low on battery it started glitching again.

Time to change the aerial on the Model I think !!

BTW The model is using one of those deans/whip type aerials. So more prone to damage than a std wire aerial I guess in a crash.

That sounds like it then Paul, especially if holding the instructors radio higher helps.

In terms of batteries, the way my system works (T14MZ instructors radio and 9C Super trainee's radio) is that the power is only taken from the T14's pack, the one in the 9C doesnt make any difference, so the battery getting low is understandable and would certainly impact on the transmission power output of the instructors radio. These things only run on about 70 milli watts at the best of times, so were're not talking about huge amounts of transmission power.
