  • Range Test

    Hey fella's

Performed a range test with my 2801 TX & RX the other day. I paced out 45m before the signal dropped out. (Cyclic stopped moving whilst wiggling sticks)

Does this mean my TX & RX combination has a range of 45m????

Using this on my Gaui 255.

As I have an X5 waiting to be built I am unsure whether this TX & RX combination will do the job, my flying skills are novice so no stick banging for a long time still. Looking at DX7 or DX8, however Hitec Aurora 9 looks good too.

Thing is my 2801 TX has all the features of the DX7 (even has a backlit screen, ), just not sure about the RX?
Thing is I don't really want to shell out +- £300 for a new TX & RX combination if my current setup is good enough to do the job.

    G.

No the ground plays a factor in the range when you test it so in flight the range will be longer, check the paperwork with the rx or check on line to see what range it suggests.

The 2801 is based on the DX7 and shares spectrum spread tech but can not use spectrum rx's.

In range check mode the TX power is limited to maybe on 10% of normal.
your TX manual will say how far on the ground is good to fly.
but normally TX's have enough power to control a flying model to 3klm (2 miles)
then you would need a very big model indeed to see at that distance.
A trex 500 at 50 mtrs is very small to see.
