  • TX battery Life?

I have a JR PCM9XII it has a the standard JR 1500mAh NiMH battery.

I only seem to get about 2 hours before it needs charging, is this normal?

Do you think this is about right?

Can anyone suggest an alternative that will give me a lot longer?

    Many thanks

My DSX9 has the standard JR 1500 and will do at least 2 weeks of flying. But thats not many flights and I turn it off after every flight. I charge it well before it empties too so I would think that maybe the batt has seen better days and a new one is in order.

Nothing wrong with the standard one imo

    If anything just buy 2

NiMhs & NiCds do 'wear out' in that repeated charging shortens their life, especially if not cycled regularly.

2 hours sounds good given, say, 10 mins on per flight. That would be 12 flights. Not bad.

      You could try a lipo.

Personally I'm going to give on of those Eneloop packs a go as I have had good results from an Rx pack. They do not lose their charge in storage.

I just got one of the Vapex low self discharge packs (like the eneloop but cheaper) from here...

http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html...discharge.html 6th one down the square tx pack

Why risk putting a lipo in, these should last a while at 2100mah and no low discharge.

I have had a Lipo in mine for 2 years. No problem. Rarely have to charge it my NiMh packs were crap. I adjusted the Low Voltage warning to suit it. It rocks

Lipos catch fire if you listen to the scaremongers, they fail to remind you that NiCd and NiMh packs also catch fire if you mistreat them...I wonder why no one brought out a NiCd/NiMh Safe Bag all those years ago? Mainly because there were not enough ill informed people out there to make money out of as they were all anoraks and knew the risks
