  • DX7 vs AURORA 9

Im going to buy either a dx7 or aurora 9 in the near future and wondering if anyone has used both or have any experience of the aurora 9! just really fancy the 9 for the touch screen, telemetery, programmable switches etc etc but the dx7 i had last was faultless and very easy to setup! help /advice please

I went from a DX7 to A9 about 3 months ago and love it, the only thing is programming it takes some getting used to.
Why is the ground to high

Any idea when the DX8 comes out?? ,,- Do fancy the Aurora 9 but i've got so many spextrum rx's- I would have to buy at least 9 hitec recievers just to fly my favorite models

AURORA 9 is going to be my next radio!

The A9 looks like it has a lot to offer, but aesthetics is not one of them. It's just too damn ugly!

              How about the 8FG?

getting used to it because you were so use to the dx7? or the way the aurora menus are set out? do you get some sort of stylus for the screen?

Yes, it does have a stylus of sorts, it is a padded plastic 'Hitec' logo that you can attach to the handle.

Personally I don't find it necessary

Extremely easy to program, menus make sense and navigation much easier than the DX7 due to touch-screen.

I prefer the feel of the A9 to the DX7 but that is a very subjective point.

The minimum stick length on the A9 is a little longer than the DX7 so if you like the sticks really short you may want to change the stick tops that come with the A9.

Love the RX battery level indicator, I've got mine wired direct from the LiPo using the SPC port on the RX so it show the main pack voltage on the radio, not the regulated voltage. You can do this with up to 8S packs.

Similarly I love the fact that it is virtually impossible to brown out a RX wired this way.

There has been a lot of debate on the US forums about the latency figures for the A9 being slower than other current radios, people actually using the A9 including 300mph jet pilots don't seem to be able to notice this in use though.

If you are a fan of LiPo TX batteries then this one supports a LiPo option with settings in the firmware. Personally I prefer Eneloop NiMH.

I also got the little PC interface for mine and first time I connected it, it downloaded a firmware upgrade, that one thing along was a major reason for going with the A9 for me.

Be good to hear from an advanced 3D flyer though as I'm not going to be stressing this system any time soon

Thanks for that mark!i really dont think ill be at a level where i will notice the slower latency so doesent really concern me! is the pc interface a seperate purchase?

Yes, the HPP-22 is an option, but it is cheap, not sure what they cost over here but I paid less than £20 in the USA for mine.

This also lets you copy your model data to the PC as a back-up.

The software is obviously first generation and will doubtless improve over the next few months, but right now it lets you back up the current selected model or restore from the PC and handles firmware upgrades. Also can set voltage warning levels for the RX battery I believe but I've not tried that yet.

More features due as they release the telemetry hardware options
