Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but it happens with my DSX9 and also with my mate's DX7 transmitters.
If you turn on the Tx and Rx in the normal manner but leave the Tx laying on something metal, it will regularly not bind.
I drive a pick-up and often use the tail gate to start my helis on. If I switch the Tx on and leave it lying on its back on the tailgate when I switch the Rx on, it won't bind. If I go through the 'on' procedure while holding the Tx in my hand say a foot away from the tail gate, it works fine. We've also seen similar problems if the Tx is lying on an aluminium Tx case.
It's not a problem really as you just learn to work around it, but if you've been suffering regular non-binding start ups, it could be due to something similar - the Tx lying on something metal.
