12FG Gyro setup

Has anybody got the hang of the gyro page on the 12FG... its a right royal handful and needs a definitive setup procedure...

A quick and lazy way is to INH the gyro and use the end points.

... but play with it long enough and the penny will drop, just make sure you set the gain to all the conditions, else a flick to idle up will see it spin when you don't want it too.

Found it... the switch direction settins both set to on... didnt help the book of lies is terrible and not very helpful...

Got the group sorted i just couldnt find the reverse for the ammount of gain always went -ve either 0 or -ve... reversed teh swith in norm and it was fine.... damm radio is a bit complicated and not vry clearly explained... just got the hang of an FF9 could do a heli in 15 mins on that... this thing is on 2 days do far...

Heres how I set it up Steve:

In the GYRO menu activate RATE 1 (of 3) to ON. Next one down is TYPE so here select GY. Moving down one in the menu is SWITCH which I assigned SF as my rate/HH switch. Next up GROUP where you select GRP. Then choose AVCS in the MODE function and set your gain % to suit.

The press the S1 button which will take you to RATE 2. Run through exactly the same process as above except when you get to choosing the MODE make sure you select NORM. This will give you rate mode and HH on your designated switch.

I dont use RATE 3 as I have no use for it so just leave it INH. I also leave the fine tuning menu as default.

Hope this helps. Its pretty easy once you get your head around it but as you say the manual is pants!

Tis done now.... just need to null the rate mode on the spartan up the field... and set the gain...
